I received the uplift relocation brackets from Alda today. Very happy with the quality of the product. I set it up on the RS and it is works nicely for me. GPS a bit higher and different angle. A very good improvement from the original setting. Thanks Alan, I couldn't expect better.

Well, finally taking advantage of the bad weather that we are having in the north of Spain, I have made a support for the GPS using pieces of metal from the structure of a drawing board. As I said, I didn't like the original location that came as standard on the handlebar, and I wanted something on top of the instrument panel, so I designed a bracket that is attached to the "horns" that hold the wind-screen. The finish is not as "nice" as it could be, but it's a "beta" version that I want to see how it performs, and based on that I'll decide if I make an improved version with modifications. Agreed, funny I had a similar idea yesterday. Too much rain in California so decided to mount the GPS. My goal was simple, greater visibility, no interference with stock windshield in all positions, no interference with handlebars at full lock and unubstucted view of dash. I used a solid 1” piece of aluminum and drilled two holes to match the diameter of upper windshield mounting brackets once snap ring is removed. Tapped a small hole on back for a screw to lock in place and prevent any movement. Used original mounting brackets. [img]] |

For those that are curious, $10.00 in materials ($4 was freight) and about an 90 minutes of work. If one does not want to tap the large bolts as I used an easier solution would be to drill a hole and use a nut. I just preferred a cleaner look. The two tapped holes on top were for a strap to eliminate any rotation, I found that with the 10/32 screw hidden under right plastic cover there was no movement so did not need the top strap. Only other change I would do relates to hiding the wire better. And, by the way, love the location. What a difference. |
