To get back on topic. Both my R1200RS (soon to go) and my newly acquired R1250rs are real pigs to get on the main stand. IMHO the problem is all to do with the suspension pre-load setting as the bike is switched off and parked. If your bike has electronic state of the art suspension, I suppose it's something we have to live with for now. My old 2011 R1200R without electronic suspension would literally fall onto the main stand with a two finger lift. By now us older riders have long since mastered the basic technique, that's not the problem. It's all about the leverage (or lack of it) that you have to deal with. Hopefully one of these days manufacturers will set the suspension ride height when the bike is switched off, to make it easier to get on the main stand.

I don’t have this issue. I weigh 11st dripping wet ride solo and have never had a problem. Hold bars, put right foot on stand, get both sides of the stand on the ground. Stand on the stand lever and lean back, gentle pull on rack/grab rail. Voila! |

To get it off the center stand, I don't get on the bike. I put the side stand down, put my left foot ahead of the center stand (wearing shoes of course) and then pull the bike forward with my left hand on the bars and right hand on the grab rail. I put a piece of 1/8" thick aluminum under the center stand to protect the floor from getting scratched up, but that makes the sliding problem worse unless I use the technique above.

Thanks all but I was joking! I’ve had an RS since the 1200 first came out and have it sussed. Sit on bike lean back, lean forwards push forwards, grab front brake to avoid ripping off the indicators on the nearby shelf unit and paddle out backwards. |
