That looks very similar to the Givi Touring screen for the 1200RS.

Yesterday I went to the dealership to change my seat from the high seat to the very low seat. On the ride home I could tell immediately I was more in the bike than on the bike. However, I had the windscreen in the upper mounts and the wind noise with the new seat was incredibly loud. Its amazing how just a few inches of saddle change will do. I ended up moving the screen to the lower mounting holes and its much better now.

Just saying, there is clearly a correlation between seat height and windscreen height regarding the noise.

I bought one of these Chinese-made clip-on wind deflectors/spoilers from Amazon for only $26 USD, no tax (a big deal in California) and free shipping. The part took two weeks to arrive. I gave it a try today and was pleasantly surprised how much it cut wind noise at high speeds, even with the windshield lowered. It was even quieter with the shield raised, although in the raised position I have to sit straight up to see over the top of the spoiler. However, it can not be used on the stock windshield that has a molded lip along the top of the shield. I attached the spoiler to a Powerbronze windshield that I installed on my 2016 RS. The improvement in noise and protection was well worth the $26.

AFAIK there is no "gruntled" to counter "disgruntled" in English.

Likewise there is no windscreen to counter disgruntled with RS riders.

Don't worry about the noise, ignore it, mess around with helmets, screens, stick ons, ear plugs or just let nature take its couse. I SAID LET NATURE TAKE ITS COURSE.

I've had my 1250RS for a couple of weeks now and found the Stock screen in the low position, mounted on the lowest set of holes a good option. Bit noisy possibly, but no buffeting for me and smooth. The clean air was hitting me across the chest and shoulders.
I fitted a Slipscreens screen for a 1200RS (same fit) last night and went for a spin. It was quieter and smooth and kept a bit more air off my chest and shoulders. Better for winter I think.
I fitted it in the lower holes and had it in the lowest position. They are only £50 and the mid tint version suits my black bike really well.
I don't like to see too much screen when I'm riding and this one doesn't get in the way too much.
I'm 6'2" and I have the 'Sport' seat fitted which is 20mm higher I think.
I'm off on a trip to the IoW this weekend so I'll know better after that.
The original screen worked in the lowest pos. for me and I agree lower is better. The main reason for trying the Slipscreens screen was that my partner said it was a bit buffety on the back with the stock screen, so thought I'd give it a whirl. At £50 it's no great shakes.

I did wonder if BMW put the 'V' in the stock screens with the wider lip as a safety feature if you go over the bars?

I have read this thread with interest... I understand the 1200 and 1250 have the same shaped screen .
The size and height of the rider will always effect the amount of wind noise each rider gets, and the different seat heights BMW offers is more generous
than other Manufacturers.
As a 6'4" tall and 16 st heavy man (195cm and 224lbs or 101 kg for non UK readers!) I have always struggled to find a motorcycle to fit me, and when I do find one that doesn't look like a mini-moto with me on it! (Ducati etc did!)
I ride my bike with the std screen on its higher mounting holes and the screen in its lowest setting... which produces a little noise and buffeting, but i consider that to be all part of the motorcycling experience, helmet design plays a large part in the noise as well as having a Bluetooth communicator clipped to the side of my lid causing drag and noise turbulence... I do not think it is fair to blame the design of the bike/screen entirely, which I would have thought spend many hours in wind tunnel testing.
We are all different shapes and sizes and have different helmets and kit... one solution for every shaped person is I would suggest impossible...
I accept the flaws of my bike as it gives me more leg room and a sporty riding position than anything I have ever owned, I wear ear plugs whenever riding too...
and tuck down a little at speed to get out of the airflow....
I have changed screens on other bikes in the past, and whilst they may have been taller they also cut down visibility in the rain as the rain drops sit all over the screen..
which was not something i liked.
I think person size/screen height/helmet design/seat height ,all play their part, in making the perfect bike pretty impossible.

100 kg is not big. It is normal.
Granted more muscle and less fat would be better in my case.

I've tried both higher and wider. It even got worse, than the BMW screen.

(Well, if you exclude the barn door solution, but who wants to experience riding a bike hidden behind a barn door?)

On my R1200, I find that the best position is the lowest but I am short and have the lowest saddle fitted. My F800S had a very low screen, almost non-existent really, and I remember thinking that it would be useless. That proved to be wrong and the bike was actually quiet and comfortable.

On my Triumph Sprint ST, I have fitted an aerofoil thing that clips on to the top of the screen. I got it from Nippy Norman and it is intended for a GS - you often see them on their screens. It is adjustable and has worked very well, both in terms of wind noise and low buffeting. I sit in a really nice pocket of still air. I think that they make one specifically for the 1200 RS screen as well, that even has the 'V' in the top.

On my VFR, I had a higher than standard screen with a lip at the top. Again, it produced a lovely pocket of quiet, still air. The problem with this was that at certain speeds and especially when overtaking trucks, there was a quite violent buffeting from side to side on my helmet. Quite nasty and verging on dangerous. I removed it and fitted the original again. Noisier but not by much and not as much wind projection but my head did not get beaten up all the time! The higher screen also did funny things to pillions as there was some sort of vortex behind me that battered them about.

On my now departed Moto Guzzi, I made an aerofoil that screwed to the top of the screen. I experimented with various heights using sections of plywood until settling for the final version made from a bit of perspex that I blagged from somewhere. The brackets that held it were S/S boat fittings that I could bend to adjust the angle. It was in fact almost identical to the BMW one on my Triumph in the end but about £80 cheaper!

I am small (plumper than I used to be though) but I don't think that I would fit through that 'V' very well. More likely, I would get stuck in it while performing my graceful arc forwards over the bars, causing even more damage to myself... and the screen en route.

I think the truth is that there are so many variables in here (as has been said above) that the only route through is to experiment. At a possible several hundred pounds per screen, that gets fairly expensive! Aerodynamics are very complicated and unpredictable!
