RE: Its in the dealer's - 8

All I can say is that during the summer months in my area of California (we use a different formulation of 10% ethanol-infused gas than anyone else in the world), both 89 and 91 AKI octane fuels provide the double-start routine upon the first start in the morning. However, during the winter months, the bike will immediately start under all conditions and all grades of fuel. So I continue to believe that the problem has something to do with winter blends of gasoline vs summer blends and the way that BMW's fuel injection system is designed or programed.

I might add that my 2009 BMW F650GS twin, which uses 87 octane (if that makes any difference) doesn't experience this "characteristic". Of course, it uses a completely different FI system than does my RS.

Sorry about the delay but the first black RS was sold 3 Days after Arrival....
My black RS with the HP Option will get in Production next Week.

Im not sure about the double start scenario, I just got the bike last week. I am used to the extremely long stumble, fart, burble, GO! of my Harley that I just traded though.

That being said, I did encounter a weird start yesterday. I fired it up in the garage and started rolling it out down my driveway. Maybe 20 feet outside of the garage it stalled out. It was mid 60 degree(Fahrenheit) so it wasnt that cold or anything. It fired right up again and stayed running with no issues after that though. It was still on the first tank of gas from the dealership, filled up with 93 on the way home that night.

I have ordered the RS without Akra.
A friend of mine has the R1250R with the Akra, I find him a little loud

The Akrapovic...., I am not sure if I will have one, because of the Loudness.

If yes then not the Part from BMW, because it"s too bright for the black RS.
For the black Look, there is nothing better than the black Akra....., it"s a little Predicament

But honestly, I'll try the Akra ... because of the look , if necessary, I will sell it again

Those HP parts look really nice. Congrats. I'm waiting to winter to buy some sort of aftermarket exhaust. The chrome OEM isn't to my taste.

Well as of tomorrow Wednesday 11 September my 1250 will be at the dealers whilst I am soaking up thunderstorms in Menorca

Will collect on Monday 16 unless I cannot wait and go in on Saturday and demand the bike!!!

Running it in on my trip to Assen 19 to 23 September

My 1250 is ordered.

A couple of thoughts....

1. Crash protection may be a waste of money. My 1200 was certainly fixable, but the insurance companies, not only for the bikes but for the repairers as well only permit new replacement. No straightening or refinishing. Registration authorities co-operate with write off titles or economic write off titles.

2 The incredble sophistication of the ECU (now with the F cam) makes it unlikely a change of end can will improve the bike.

I have used the term F cam as the "F" is clearly the most important letter in the official name.😁
