Interesting that some dealers are saying the bike is not allowed out as a demo because they cannot supply before September - so guess Bahnstormers are not saying that.
The Spec of the Sport looks ideal to me from what I can work out ...be interested in your views . Cheers

How much is actually blue? It looks as if the tank and front mudguard are black.

No, its all blue except the decal strips on the from quarter and panels by the seat. The silver tank centre piece is an option ( I think) but the tank and mudguard are definitely blue

The way it was explained to me was that BMW are building bikes for orders before stock, and no deliveries are forecast before September. Therefore, best way to get the bike you want in spec you want is to order - the you will get a firm delivery date. Of course as time goes on stock bikes will build up and dealers can scan the UK to match a customers requirements with an available machine. But, bottom line is no RS before ~September.

Road the lemon Sport 1250 at Bahnstormer's Alton today, thanks for the demo!

No really surprises, the engine is the stand out difference as one would expect but the big difference is smoothness not power. That was what I expected from riding the other 1250 Shiftcam boxers.
TFT placement is good, I don't think there will be any part of the TFT covered by a repositioned satnav using the Hornig or similar accessory.
Things which felt odd/different from my '17 MY RS.
More torque reaction felt during quickshift changes. A tiny but noticeable difference for me but it could be nothing really, I'd be interested to hear other perceptions of this.
Somewhat vaguer slowspeed handling. I can't put my finger on it, it could be the tyres but considering my 1200 is currently at the end of the serviceable life of its Roadtec 01s, the 1250 did not feel quite as nice as I was expecting. Overall it does feel more agile despite weighing more, the only difference I could find in the specs is the castor of the 1200 is described as 114.8 mm and the 1250 is 110.9 mm but both have identical steering head angles. I guess BMW actually mean trail from their castor specs. The 1250 is slightly longer wheelbase.
Other differences noted were the throttle/abs/tc mode also changes the ESA mode. So swapping road to dynamic on the throttle setting also changes the suspension to dynamic. One can override this although I couldn't figure out how to take the preload/ride height setting off auto, it was a pretty short demo. I usually have mine set to rider + luggage.
The dealer was quite open about the options packaging on the 1250RS and speculated that things might change. For instance the top line Exclusive does not come with Gear Assist Pro and the tieing together of colours/packages has not gone down well on other model lines.

The rear seat looks like it will do a good job of holding due in the morning :)

My understanding is that it is only the demo bikes in the dealers at present not the customers bikes. My bike still has a build date for week 35 (26 August) and delivery week 37 (9! September). we will wait and see!!!!!

TFT is very neat and very very clear . I would not see the need for the SatNav with this upgrade. Blue is quite conservative. Small detail I noticed is that the exhaust guard is now black plastic.
Front nose is re-profiled and looks good with LED lights.
