Come on. Get a grip!!! If you are on this forum, chances are pretty high you already have the existing RS. Why fill yourself with anxiety to have the latest (and not yet built) model?

If the 1250 "smokes" the 1200 - blows it away over the 1/4 mile, cuts the braking distance by 30%, weighs 20 kg less and gets a 20% improvement in fuel consumption with better lights, better instruments I can understand the urgency.

However, apart from the reasonable expectations of lights and instruments, I can't see there will be a marked improvement.

Maybe when I turn 70 I will think about it. That is 18 months away.

Until then, the Best Motorcycle I have EVER owned is fine with me.

There really isn't a marked improvement. You make an excellent point. It's the reason I told my dealer (after telling him a year ago I wanted the new RR with all its expected "improvements") that I no longer want one...it's an incremental improvement, but appears to be a bike without a soul any more.

Are there new '18 RS bikes to be found?

My 2015 has already got 20hp that I don't use, not much point adding another 10. I'd want something more than a bit of extra oomph!

Today I was told by my dealer that the 1250 RS isn't expected around the end of Q3 2019. Maybe even a bit later then that.

As I want to trade in my 2018 RS by that time (it should have run almost 50.000 nice km. by then), it should be right on time for my birthday in October. Question remains, which color.....

Me, it’s coming in March from Preston Mottorad. It’s Austin Yellow, I know and I don’t care! My current 1200RS is brown (Frozen Bronze in BMW text). It’s also for sale with lots of extras, please view introduction email if interested.

The colour with the new 1250RS does dictate the model and spec, infinite BMW wisdom? My current model is top of the range, to match it I had to tick most of the optional extra boxes. Apart from the new lights and TFT screen I don’t think it’ll be much faster and performance will much be the same as it’s slightly heavier... the only thing I guess going off GS1250 reviews is that the prop shaft will be less clicky and more smooth from pull away and at slow speeds, that’s to wait and see moments though. It’s yellow so trumps it all!

What country are you in?

Check the spec lads, I think BMW has listened to our niggles, such as rubbish lights and silly speedo etc. There still not there but the new bike is better. If mine already had these sorted I wouldn’t be getting this new one so soon.

Ordered in November Ged with the big guy in Preston.

I see you got the Blue one which is the second nicest.

People here are saying the 1200 is the best bike they’ve ever had, we’ll the best bike just got better!

I’ve now figured this one out...

Austin Yellow, no question.

The best bike i'm optimistic, if the feedback from the GS guys is anything to go with, the engine is superb.
