What to expect from a future BMW R1250RS

I rode a 1250 GS today and would say that the update is more about meeting more restrictive emissions (while maintaining the power we are used to) than it is about closing a power gap to other European manufacturers selling twins in the Adv sector. That is not a bad thing in my view and the 1250 certainly feels smoother and I think the quick shifter is improved (smoother). I could not detect the shift cam operating. The TFT on the GS is a work of art and is very slickly integrated with the control wheel. I need to explore more about how well the TFT works and what it can and cannot do, as the engine update is not enough for me to think about changing yet. |

I can't think of any reason why BMW couldn't offer the TFT display on the R and RS models, but with those guys you just never know why they do things the way that they do.

I highly expect the TFT in the new R1250RS. If that won't be the case i will buy a 2018 RS right away because they are presently at good rates. |

Rode the R1250RT for more than an hour this morning, while my RS got it's 30k service, and I impressed by the smoothness and quietness of the new ShiftCam engine. Quiet at idle, smooth pickup and less vibrations at higher revs, but I didn't really notice the extra power and torque or the change in cam settings. Suppose that is a compliment for the new engine! |

Adding VVT was a great move. This is not exactly new technology, and I don't have any concerns there. I have this on my C14, no issues whatsoever. |

I dont expect any BMW dealers to 'fess up' and tell the truth about if and when a 1250RS is coming..... I dont think they would want to put you off buying the current model... which appears to me to sell quite slowly... |

On the BMW North America site you can find the 2019 R1250RS listed among the bikes when you go to the payment estimator. You plug in a state then select the bike. |

So I wouldn't expect the R1250RS models that you actually see on the showroom floor to be less than that price - at least not at California dealerships.
