For me that Moto Guzzi is love at first sight They've hit the nail on the head with that one.
I really like that across the frame 90 deg V-twin layout, which makes more sense than a boxer layout.
Both con rods share a common crank journal so no large offset between left and right cylinders as in a boxer.
Perfect primary balance with the V as opposed the the "rocking " and longer unsupported crank of a boxer.
Not to mention the sound of a 90 deg V twin as opposed to the flat sounding boxer.
I wish BMW had made a V twin first and stuck with it.
Guzzi and Ducati have made the 90 deg V an Italian icon.
Having said that, I am a loyal boxer fan, but I could be swayed...

A Vee can't have perfect primary balance. The 180-degree crank is what gives the boxer primary balance......

I believe both layouts have perfect primary balance. So does a 45 deg (HD) for that matter. Not so for anything else.
I'm open to correction tho'

This becomes a bit of a minefield, but as a practical example my old 748 Ducati without any balancer shafts was smoother than any BMW boxer I've owned. (Oilhed, camhead and LC). The 1250 being the smoothest of the boxers in my perception.

I don't think Italian bikes are any worse than other brands nowadays. The Moto Guzzi V85TT has been around for some time and the V100 is just an evolution of that bike. The V85 is popular over here and there are no horror stories.

Mate of mine with a brand new Guzzi was in France riding behind another bike. Front bike pulled over - "Why do you keep flashing me ?' 'I'm not' was the answer - well that was until they worked out that the slight rain they were experiencing had got inside the switch housing

Same here, but you were obviously 'posh' as I had the Rickman panniers. I bought a 1981 B version with posh reverse Comstar wheels during lockdown. I love it. But, somewhere between 1981 and now its seemingly powerfiul engine has become a bit flaccid !

I was lucky I acquired it from my Dad with the Krauser already fitted, he traded-in my Suzuki 400 single against his new K100 and gave me the CX with luggage , he got the new bike and I got an upgrade ( 21st birthday present as I recall- student days!).

I doubt Honda could afford to build the transverse Vee engine these days. That was created when Honda was trying to meld auto engine technology (design for longevity) into MC's.

It looks like a nice bike, but I don't see that it has more features than the RS, other than the active aero (meh).

adjustable engine braking (and more modes for TCS, engine & suspension)
cornering lights

the screen is probably the only useful one

As a long time BMW & MG owner - bought my first one, a 90/s in 1976, and Le Mans owner in 1978 - there WILL be one of those in my garage just as soon as they are available. Some idiot - that would be me - traded in both bikes many years ago for vastly inferior bikes, in both cases.

It looks like the V100 checks every box I can think of, although combining first year of a new engine design, with an Italian manufacturer whose recent output hasn't been the most reliable in the world, and a really poor dealer network, means you do have to seriously want one.

It will be great complement to a BMW.
