Well your going to have to give us a review on the 1250 as compared to the 1200 ...

Not really possible due to the conditions on my ride home - we had 24hrs of torrential rain, roadside flooding even on the main roads.

I avoided my usual route across dartmoor due to likely worse flooding and livestock chicanes being a risk so only A road, dual carriageway riding.

As far as the R1250RS I can state, new tyres, new bike with 100miles on clock I never went above 4000rpm but.

It was smoother (maybe my 1200RS shaft problems?) and turned easier - newer tyres? but was less comfortable !....

I prefer my sport seat and have standard handlebars, both levers set on 1 - closest to bars.

This 1250 has a black 'sport handlebar' I think and standard heated seat so I would need to select the same as my 1200 and I left the levers on 3 in error.

The display is so much clearer and with time to set it up I would soon adapt but selecting heated grips(seat) seemed less easy - luddite tendencies aside.

Now - back to the Ventilation topic - Just had update from Ocean BMW Plymouth (thanks again Bill and staff) that both ends of my shaft !!! were stuck, gearbox output and bevel drive.

Parts have now arrived today, saturday morning, brilliant considering it was thurs late pm when I left on the loan bike and it was still all attached.

Hopefully monday pm or tuesday I will get my bike back with a new shaft drive, new bevel drive all greased up for 12k miles before any maintenance and zero charges to pay.

Parts and labour would have been around £3500 plus loan bike and no doubt it took quite a while extra to remove the seized parts

Ocean bmw have made space in their workshop for this unplanned work, loaned me a bike. all free of charge - better than anyone could expect.

Yep, all done completely free of charge. Slightly frustratingly, the bike had to stay in overnight for them to order the part - I couldn't help but wonder why they didn't get it in advance as they have the complete service history for the bike. Good to have it done, though, even if I wasn't aware of any problems and it doesn't feel any different!! 😂

Good news Ray. Just for clarity, was that all done for free? Obviously your bike is way out of warranty, as is mine, that is also a 2016RS. I was about to take the rear end of mine apart to check it out, re-grease etc. but if they would do this gratis as part of the recall, I shall not bother and will just bring it in.

All done, collected just before closing 5:30pm today . New bevel drive, new shaft drive, new swingarm boots etc and as already advised Nil Charges.

Brilliant response from both bmw and Ocean Plymouth to keep me mobile although their RS was not used for any other trips while I had it.

Haven't checked the ventilation updates as it was 2 degrees C / 35F and 30 miles each way so glad to get the 1200 back home.

The 1250 was new, good job I was advised, kept revs below 4000 as I now discover it had 28 miles on the clock when I was trusted with their newest registration.

My RS (the 'keeper' !) was better going home - sport seat & standard bars, although I did set the screen on 'high' due to windchill

Returning the 1250RS, wider sports bar and screen in low position as I normally use was definitely colder than the 1200 going home.

Not as easy to adjust the heated grips from the options wheel despite a much larger screen but on level 4 they kept my hands warm.

Perhaps I expected too much as there was never time thursday night when I collected the loan bike for a full sales handover.

I now realise it will neeed a true two hour test before updating to a second RS or R1300R alongside my current 'keeper' and a sports seat, non-heated, is still my choice.
