A couple of days back I flicked the switch to power up the pair of Optimates connected to the RS and the wife's Ninja 650. The covers came off yesterday and I ran both bikes in the garage.

They have been in hibernation since the salt was being laid on the roads, back in around October I guess. My RS is early 2016 owned from new and the Kawasaki is shiny new. All is good, all the Clearwater lights and the camera work fine. The motor sounds sweet too. The bike won't be ridden until the 29th March when the first stage of lockdown easing begins. Then I need to get up to speed and 'on song' before I start examining candidates for their advanced test.

The Nav V didn't fire up. It was just a completely flat internal battery. This morning after a good charge all is good.

Must check the MOT, possibly expired.....

Woke mine up last weekend and managed a quick 40 miles without straying outside Jimmy Krankie's verboten zone. Mines a 2015, still on original battery. Bet that's just put the kibosh on it!

I fired up my 1981 R100RS last Sunday, first time since November, took a few turns to pump the fuel through the carbs and a little choke but the battery coped and she sounded sweet. 40 years old, so no road tax this year and no MOT ( I think that’s a little crazy)!

Spring is in the air and lockdown restrictions will soon start to ease , feeling optimistic for a change!

I had mine out for a 55 mile ride Wednesday afternoon to pick up supplies for annual maintenance. It sounds like your restrictions are tighter over there than in the US. It was a beautiful afternoon with the temperature close to 60 degrees. I took it nice and easy to get my legs back so to speak.

Well, the first stage (albeit with pretty minimal changes) is actually on 9 March, and at that point "Recreation or exercise outdoors with household or one other person" is allowed... the key point there is the specific addition of "Recreation" to "exercise outdoors". As far as I'm concerned that's the green light for me to go out for solo, non-stop rideouts from home.

I know some people have been trying to justify riding as their form of 'exercise' which is very much skating on thin ice; but I can't see any problem with classing it as 'recreation'.

I know I'm rubbing it in, but in my part of the world we are able to ride all year round. No salt on the roads. Great roads and mountain passes with minimal interference from the law who are never there when needed anyway. About as close to motorcycle nirvana as you get I would think. The downside is that we have the worst idiot drivers you could imagine, and really bad politics I'm not understating the bad politics. I guess it's never perfect anywhere.

MCN suggest motorcycling is not 'allowed' until March 29th ... discuss

You can go shopping on your bike. Also you can go to and from work, if you are working and not furloughed or working from home.
Also I believe you can take your bike directly to an MOT station for a pre-booked appointment.

UK guidance seems still a little unclear, I read the Gov link and also the MSN interpretation, and so far Coalition of Motorcycle Organisations ( COMO) don’t seem to have given their view which I feel is the best interpreter of guidelines towards motorcycling, whilst looking for that, I did find this VMCC view:

This would appear to support Freddy’s view , that we can ride solo from March 9th - that would be fantastic!

If you read the first link above in isolation all seems well and good. But, local and essential travel only until the 29th of March help paint the full picture.

So 29th of March it is. I was getting excited but the road gritters have just been out anyway :(

Our bikes have not been ridden since the end of October and not started since the end of November when I mounted new tires.
I have to start the bikes to get up a little ramp and into their parking spots.
Went out to the garage yesterday and set the service reminder back one year and 15,000 miles.

Same form me as Lee, not since Nov, but like this thread. Wife suggested I go ride Sunday. I guess I'm getting irritable? Likely give it a go, so long as my heated gear comes on - supposed to be high of 41'F.... but sunny :)
