Just received a peg lowering kit from Suburban Machinery. Looks like an easy install this weekend. Hopefully my knees will like it.

That looks interesting, please update us on the installation. Does the kit also include an extension to the gearshift actuating rod?

Could be quite expensive for the UK at $219 + import duty (if any) + 20% VAT + customs collection fee + shipping from the US.

Installed the lowering kit today. Easy install, maybe 20 minutes for both sides taking my time. Reinstalling the spring is the hardest part. Kit does not include the (optional) gearshift actuating rod. The adjustment range of the stock BMW rod was ok for me.

When lowering the pegs, what happens to the position of the rest brake\gear lever in relation to your foot?

The lowering kit I used pushed the footpegs out wider as well as lower.
I found it necessary to adjust the gear linkage and fit an extender before I was happy with the set-up.
I found the rear brake okay without adjustment.

That's what I was afraid of. Wouldn't it necessary to fit new rearsets instead?

Does the MV lowering kit work on the 1250? It's not in the model specific list on the MV site...

On the brake side the brake cylinder and pedal are all part of the same backplate assembly so this plate can be dropped by a bracket to the maximum extent allowed by the slack in the flexible brake hose. In contrast the gear side has a rigid attachment to the bike in the shape of the operating rod that goes from the shift lever to the gearbox.

I'm not sure, but I suspect that lowering the whole backplate assembly on the left side would change the angle of the operating rod such that it fouled on the plate. The alternative is to lower the footpeg only and then extend the operating rod to lower the lever.

Hi, Sounds a good idea just to have a plate both sides BUT left side mounting includes the centre stand stop. If you push that down you will be grinding stand at very low angles of lean, not good!!

PS Just finished the 600 mile breakin on my new blue 1250 love it, Low speed in town so smooth plus the ride is much better.

Ah, I see, sounds like i'll need to have a good poke about when it arrives, though may not need to do a mod at all.

What part of E. Yorks are you from, I used to have family in Long Riston, near Hull?

I am in next village, Leven but a displaced cockney from East London 35 years ago.

Also looked at peg lowering but found that knee angle is not a problem even on 8 hour days. I am 6ft and 81 years old so a bit stiff at times, standard seat
But have R1200R bars with Wunderlich Ergo risers as standard bars were far too forward for me.
Had a 2004 GS so tried new one but too big and ugly compared with RS Just on 600 miles on this 1250 having put 17000 on 1200.

Guys, I just built my own plates and was able to drop the pegs 19mm on both sides. The brake retains its factory orientation and I simply had to adjust the shift rod to accommodate for the drop in peg height. I couldn't find these parts off the shelf but I did find a similar product made for the earlier GS models which made me think I was onto the right idea.

I should also add that by going this route the bump stop for your center stand moves downward with the peg assembly leaving the center stand lower than the original location when not in use. I went ahead and modified my center stand's bump stop location to allow the stand to be back up where the factory location landed it when not in use.
