I have been told by my dealer in UK that the R1250R is still going to be in showrooms about March this year. I have been told that as soon as it is is and the weather is ok then I can test ride the R, will certainly give me enough to make a decision re the new RS allegedly ready in October. Get a test ride on the R hopefully in March might be the best option

Well, I've had an eventful day, test rode a 15 lowered GS , The handling was great, the looks good, far better riding position, grunt right from the start of throttle as you would expect pre euro5, down side = fueling issue again, vibration at 80mph, gearbox slightly agricultural and the gear lever long way off foot peg !! is this a mod?, weather cover not as good as my RS but no weight on wrists , i think the clutch is pre slipper as its heavy.

I then jumped on to a standard height R1250GS TE, the handling was good, better than the rs, engine is quiet and vibration free, super smooth engine, gear change silky smooth again, the new TFT screen is superb but not as comprehensive as i thought it would be but soo easy to see. down side = slight miss-fueling in first and second from throttle closed to opening a very tiny lag, (being picky). the throttle felt flat, being you have to twist it more to get power, that's the emission thing and is the same as my 17 RS, i really pushed the bike hard but did not really notice any extra power, although it must be there, again i dont think weather cover is quite as good as the RS but i do have a bigger screen on mine, this all said , no more noticeable weight than the rs and high up weight not apparent,this all said , i think i'm buying one

Very much so, a deal i couldn't refuse, bike will be a black one, fortunately not much of it is actually black , cant stand the cleaning.
