RE: GPS Re-location - 4

Ray as Stick said all you have to do is to remove the clips and prey the pivot apart a few millimeter so that the pipe fits over the small tab. Then just use a needle nose plier to put the clips back again. Hope the photos help. Yes you will drop something so use a towel 😂

Stick, couldn’t you use some PTFE tape to build up the size to match the ID of your tube, I guess it will only be 1-2mm that’s required?

Honestly, Nigel, it was simplier to measure, cut, trim, file, ream(slightly), clean uninstall/reinstall. I went ahead and did it this afternoon. A few typical mechanical tools everyone uses on their cycles, a plumbing tube cutter and I believe just about anyone could make one. At a cost of $2 a try, you can't beat where this idea hits home for brilliance and simplicity. It took the best of 45 minutes the second time AND theres 5 more tries at it in a 3' tube. Seriously, I didn't want to complicate this by designing a tensioner, so I dropped back 15 and punted. Started a new one and I'm glad I did. Here's a revised set of pic's with some detail. My fingers are not touching anything. Kudo's to Jonas on this one. Stick.

Bonzo, mine are still exposed. I'm going to try and find black plastic plug in caps like those that are on the tops of my Helibar Bar Back's exposed bolts. I'm hoping to find that or something similar. Stick.

Allen (socket) head Stainless bolts, as well. Easily accessible from Lowes or Home Depot, here in the US. Just measure the length of the original bolt to get the correct length.

I haven’t suffered any vibration or wobbling on my Satnav with the Hornig mount - that is until I fitted a new horn which required me to unfasten the Hornig mount and when I put it back together the vibration started. What I then realised was that it’s caused by not lowering the flat bars (with elongated slots) as far as they can go so that the horizontal steel rod sits onto the screen arms (for which Hornig provide 2 small black adhesive cushions), once lowered so that the bar rests in this position, the vibration is negligible. Maybe you don’t want to waste any more time on the set-up Paul, but I think this is the means to cure your problem.

Thanks to Jonas and Stick I have now prepared and installed the GPS mount. It was pretty straight forward, however I'm having the same problem Stick reported, with the tubing rotating, despite being on my second edition. I'll just keep making them until I get the tubing tight enough on the stubs. My handlebars are standard (no Helibars), which does restrict the GPS positioning somewhat, in order to avoid the fluid reservoirs and GPS locking slider, however it's still loads better than the BMW installed position. I'd be very interested if anybody comes up with any other solutions or refinements.
