RE: Handguards for the RS 12 - 5

As my post 7 Jan I have 30 up 30 back risers from www.mv-motorrad.de and had to move the mirror stems slightly forward, which did not affect my rear vision.

hi , bought some Helibars ,, fitted them nice things but doing what the instructions say about moving lever down to give some slack on the clutch hose. to my mind it was quite extreme & reading what our friend in the USA found out after a 200 mile ride that the hose was abraded i bought a Hornig extension piece, problem solved. i have just fired off an email to Heli USA to point this out pity it cost an extra 49 euros. thanks to info on this forum & when i come out of isolation ( cov19 ) i will have many happy & comfortable miles ahead .

On my '16 RS, even with the Heli Risers, you still have to rotate the mirrors forward a bit to avoid contact. But well worth it in the cooler temps

Just put a set of Bark Buster Storms on my 1250, fit up no problem just had to get a coupe of M8 x 60mm bolts to retain the bar ends. I have the Helibar risers and had to change the position of the left side mirror stem slightly.

Do you have picture with the Bark Buster on your 1250 RS ?

I think I'm going to give these a try. Hopefully I can run them with the bars in the stock location since they're not rigid mount.

Most posts seem to mention bar risers in the same breath as handguards
I have a 1250RS , standard bars , don't want risers thanks , but do want handguards that fit .
Any ideas ?

Hi all
I have just fiitted a pair of Acerbis Dual Road hand guards to my 1250.Dead easy , about 15 mins work.
They replace the end weights , as they have integral weights.
I think the original weights are a bit heavier but vibes don't seem to have increased.
Use the original fixing bolt , with a drop of loctite and tightened to ....v.tight as they are not located positively ,so could turn if not well tight.
They are only fixed at the bar end.The inner ends rest on the master cylinder front faces. I luckily had some thick adhesive foam kicking about ( heavy duty draft-excluder I think ). so a small square of this was cut for the inner points to rest on.
There is a small (7mm) gap between the end of the handgrip and the handguard , which is a bit unsightly .You could machine/drill the inside of the handguard to reduce this ,or even take a hacksaw to the bar end , but you would have a clearance issue between the ends of the levers and the inside of the hanguards.
The guards are quite slim, so not as protective as some of the more enveloping options , but I think they don't look out of place , and they do the job of keeping the wind off you hands so helping the heated grips do their job.
No clearance issues with mirrors or anything else on full lock.
