My commute used to be longer when I had a R1150GS - 33 miles to Cardiff. I had a gaucho then which kept my seat dry in the day and meant I often didn't need over trousers if it was a little chilly or damp. Perhaps I should dig that out and see if it works on the RS :) |

Putting wet gloves on has to be one of the worst biking experiences ever.

I added a set of the Barkbuster Storm handguards. I don't ride in quite as cold of weather as some, but I'm incredibly pleased with these. With heated grips on low, and uninsulated mid-weight gloves my hands are staying comfortable at 0 C / 32 F. Just keeping the wind off the backs of my hands has made all the difference. Mine are all black, so are very subtle to the aesthetics of the bike. Assembly was easy, but did require a glance at the instructions. Mounting was about the easiest modification I've ever done. 1 bolt per side. I do have bar risers (Heli, I think) and I haven't had any issues with interference at full lock. |

I haven't noticed any change in wind to my helmet. That said, I barely put any miles on the bike before adding the handguards. I've only had the bike a couple weeks, and wanted to be able to commute on the RS, so quickly added the Barkbusters. The bike came with a Puig windscreen as well, which in the high position routes the air either over my head, or just into the top vents on the helmet. It's tough to tell where the air is hitting exactly. With the screen in the low position I get a bit of wind noise, but the air is still clean with little or no buffeting. |
