But my theory is that it is not a software problem but a hardware problem. Much easier for a manufacturer to manage different versions this way. |

You might have this port in the bike's wiring harness as it is cheaper to make only one harness for each module. Almost all circuits on the bike are connected to the CANBUS and each is controlled by the ECU. The Euro bikes have a light sensor that is monitored by the ECU so that it can flip from Daytime Running to headlights automatically. Unless your bike has the correct setting in the software then the LED module will not be energised by the ECU. I am pretty sure you will need to find a way to hack the ECU software to get the module working, unless you can get it to work via something like a Fuzeblock using an independent circuit. |

I’m fairly certain with a European light control module I can make this work. I’ll let you know when I get it. My thought is that the light control module will have both the necessary hardware and software to make the DRL operate plug and play. Otherwise I'll have to get scrappy. |

I'm very curious to see what you figure out. I have a limited knowledge of the subject matter, but I do have a question to add. If somehow the ECU controls whether or not the DRL port is energized, would Hilltop or anyone similar be able to make the adjustment to the ECU when they are making their tuning fix? I do believe that I read somewhere that dealerships were told not to do this. |
