RE: Road 5 Michelin - 3

Time to take the plunge on Road 5s. For supply only in the UK, I can see £234 inc VAT & delivered for the pair. Any recommended source for prices not much higher than that?

Out with Mrs Bravo for our last ride of 2018,the ROAD 5'S performed perfectly on greasy roads. The only moment we had was when I hit thick mud at speed on a sharp bend,both wheels let go but I couldn't blame the tyres for that. The RS handled it well (as always). Had a pigeon hit me on the fingers of my left hand,they were resting on the clutch lever. The pigeon bounced off them,Hit Mrs Bravo on the leg then the left pannier. Them bastards don't half leave grey dust about.

I am having my second set of Road 5s fitted on Monday. Very pleased with the handling in all conditions and longevity.

Lucky man. I know a harley guy who got hit in the hand by a crow (was pecking on some roadkill, and apparently did not want to leave), and it broke several bones in his hand.

When I bought my 1200RS in July, I had the choice of Michelin Road 5s or Metzelers. I chose the showroom bike with the Michelins as I have had bikes shod with 3s and 4s and like these tyres a lot.
I too have noticed that the back end occasionally breaks away momentarily when powering out of slow corners (or at least gives the sensation of breaking away). No big slides, but I have felt unnerved by this and wondered if it was a result of the long wheelbase and reduced weight over the rear tyre. I'm not entirely sure it would not happen with other tyre makes but I have decided I will try something else once the M5s are shot.
Those who have not experienced this momentary loss of tyre traction are not using all 1200 cubes correctly. After all, what is the point of having power if it can't be abused !!!
Naturally, the last line was meant to be a witty joke. I certainly do not feel that I am wringing the throttle when the grip is lost and have checked tyre pressures are correct. The tyres have barely covered 1000miles with only a solo rider.
