Getting an oily film on the inside of the windscreen, and other parts in that area.

I'm not sure where to put this, so apologies in advance.

As the subject says, after a ride, I'm finding an oily film on the inside of the windscreen and somewhat on the tank/fairing and other cockpit components. I see no evidence of leaking from the forks, braking system or coolant system and I can't really make out a smell. It definitely seems to be coming from the bike because I've cleaned it off and it comes back after riding in different areas.

It's a bit concerning so any help is appreciated.

EDIT: on further examination, I think it's either the clutch master cylinder or the left fork leaking at the top, but I'm not quite sure.

Some enterprising fellow should start a book on this.

As I recall, there's reports of some new aftermarket windscreens leaching an oily substance as they finish curing on your bike - in which case it should get better over time..

Not entirely a fan of inverted forks away from the track, I'll give even money on a fork seal - though I would think you should be able to pick out a good dirt ring following rides.

Thanks. I'm 99% positive it's the clutch master cylinder. Some of the oil collected in the well of one of the fairing screws and it's the same color as the clutch mineral oil. I also have some reside underneath it.

I'll contact the dealer (Max in NH) tomorrow and see how soon they can get it in. Until then, I think I'll just keep the reservoir topped up and ride it. I'd usually send it there at the end of the season for the 6000 mile service and we're getting close to that.

Take the cover off, remove the rubber boot and dry off the boot, reservoir top and cap.
If you have to add fluid it's not brake fluid.
When you replace the cap, try to get the 4 screws evenly snug.

I did add a bit of fluid and knew that it's mineral oil. I got the correct stuff from the dealer so I'm good there. $15 for 100ml. The killer is that I have 1L of Shimano mineral oil for their hydraulic brakes. I bet it's the same stuff but I wasn't going to take the chance.
