New tyre time, front wheel removal and reassembly, how to

It's time to take the wheels to the shop. I have the bike on centre stand with the front supported (from garage roof with a ratchet strap). I don't have a service manual.

Do I need to unbolt both front brake calipers or can I get away with leaving one in place?
Whats the deal with the four front spindle pinch bolts, do I loosen them all just a bit before unscrewing the spindle?
Is it a sensible precaution to unbolt the front ABS pickup?
Anything to watch out for?

Please see in attached manual from page 100 onwards.

Correction . . . from page 166 (need new glasses . . . )

Aha OK that is the riders manual! I have one of those but obvs didn't read that far - I will do so now.

My preference is a trolley jack under the engine. Lets you raise the bike just enough to roll the wheel out from under the mudguard.

No, it can stay on, there's enough clearance to get the wheel out.

Although it's a lot easier if you take the muffler off (this is very straightforward).

When refitting the rear wheel, it can be a sod to mount the wheel on the narrow lip AND put the first bolt in place. You need three hands. A good dodge, documented somewhere else on the forum, is to screw in a long headless bolt (remember it's a fine thread) into the "top" hole before attempting to mount the wheel. This dummy bolt then acts as a support when you offer up the wheel with both hands. Works a treat.

I got the rear wheel out with the silencer in place, but it was a tight squeeze, and I'll opt to take it off before refitting the wheel.
