Having learned about the OBDLink device on this thread: "[Engine Fault Warning Light (2)]" I've just taken the plunge and bought one, as an affordable alternative to the GS9111 device. I've so far just downloaded the free, basic MotoScan software on an old Android phone. I have a few queries and would love to hear from anyone else who's using one (paging Mr. 36654, perhaps? KC100->CB100N->CB250RS--------->DL650AL2->R1200RS |

I used the basic (15Euro) version of the APP to identify engine faults (MOT). To see more detail or reset codes you'll need the 30Euro or higher packages. Old Forum Orphan |

I just use my Zumo 390 when abroad - it tells me my current speed and the local speed limit. I leave it in mph so the "distance to destination" remains in miles as this makes more sense to me. Worth mentioning thought that the app also provides no way of changing the tyre pressure readouts from bars to PSI, however my dealer was able to do that for me. Some of it is automated such as seeing a 50 kph sign and equating that to the 30mph we have in UK in towns. My senses are equipped to ride at 30mph judging speed through visual input, engine noise in a certain gear etc. Having a display in mph with the local speed limit already converted takes away one level of thinking leaving more bandwidth for other stuff. Important stuff like, do I stop in this village for a coffee or go onto the next one and combine it with a fuel stop? It's all part of relaxing into the ride which tends to be more enjoyable and safer. |

I used it a couple of years ago to reset and resolve a few issues with my old r1200rt, it worked very well, also useful for resetting service indicator if you do your own servicing. |

The first question to ask is..........do I have that feature on my bike? What headlight control unit might a R1200RS have? According to the user blog area, the top self version of the software will allow code changes (i.e., "Code Control Units"). That's where the change from Miles to KM can be made. In my case, I used the 15Euro version of the code to locate ECU faults. The free software said one fault occurred. The 15Euro version listed several faults over a period of time. I'm curious about the "adaptations" in the 3rd highest grade. That might support my un-informed hypothesis on Bad Data Bits causing some of the Limp Mode events

Hi, I am thinking of buying a OBDLink device basic faults and resetting but wondering if it can fix a specifc issue for me. I own a 10/2016 R1200RS. One thing I need to do is reset the system to accept a pair of OEM R1200 LED driving lights I have purchased and fitted. They are genuine BMW parts from a damaged bike - R1200 GSA LC. As per the BMW parts list hey can be fitted to any Liquid Cooled R1200. |
