Was wondering, can anyone confirm that BMW has delivered an update to the TFT dispaly? I have a 2020 BMW R1250 RS that is running an older version of the software. It is simply horrible how badly the connectivity is with blue tooth enabled devices, including my Cardo Packtalk Slim, the Nav VI, and my iPhone 10S.

I have an appointment with my dealership to get the bike inspected this Wednesday. They told me if there is an update to the firmware and software of the TFT, it will be recognized when they plug the unit in, and the download will be automatic. But, I have read on other forums and social media groups that is not the case. The download has to be requested by the customer and there has to be verified connection issues or errors for the update to be authorized.

Just want to me sure before I drive 120 miles one way to get this done at my dealership. I'll be pissed if they say there is an update, but they can't install it.

Any help or advice would be appreciated

I have had issues with my 2019 GS TFT, mostly bad connections, sometimes forgetting paired devices,

Mine has just had an update for the TFT last wek and it lost my phone today, grrr

Update is a little better but not 100%

Having mine updated this Friday due to poor connectivity with Bluetooth, the dealer told me it will take 4 hours to complete, so I would suggest taking a good book if you are waiting for it.

Yep, they told me 3-4 hours as well. I'm getting my bike inspected that same day and plan on spending the day at the dealership getting this all done. Will probably end up buying something from them I don't need as well :)

I have a lot of work that I need to get done as well so spending that amount of time there won't be too bad.

I've seen images from R1250RS owners that shows a recent TFT update has added the sport screen from the R1250R Sport. Not that that helps your connectivity issue, although it might, but yes there's definitely been a recent update. Regions vary.

I think there have been 2 in quick succession I got mine updated mid/end of July to 021 104 020 and now it is 022 005 041 so hope they can do when it goes in for its next service. When they did the first one they asked if they could keep the bike in over night to do it, guess they are not wasting money hours on the free stuff.

There is a facebook group for BMW motored TFT display connectivity which is useful and has guidance how to set up so that it works (think that is on the announcement section (youtube video)) There are other set ups, the guy at the dealership did mine and it works well though the SC1 is a problem with route commands from the sat nav so will go back to my packtalk.

Latest update software number ending in 041 is the latest. It also gives an additional sports screen

Just an update...

I had the latest TFT software and firmware updated at my dealership yesterday. I now have the sport screen and you can tell there were significant updates and stability issues fixed by BMW. Sadly, the connectivity with my PackTalk Slim, the TFT, and the Nav VI was not fixed.

I have come to the conclusion that this is NOT an issue with BMW or necessarily the TFT. I think this is an issue with Cardo and their Bluetooth and mesh technologies being incompatible or causing conflicts. I've tried all sort of connection scenario's, including with and without the BMW Connected app. Still doesn't help. Music stutters and skips and is unstable. Phone call quality is horrible. Cardo needs to address this.

Is there another communication system that others have tried with better results?

We've had no issues (once updated) with TFT interface and Samsung S8 & S10, as well as Sena 20S or SRL-2.

I don't listen to much music, but my wife does.

Very strange @jmarnell - I have your exact set up (Packtalk Slim, Nav VI and TFT) and it works fairly well. I have my phone set up as Bluetooth connection 1 and the Nav as Bluetooth connection 2. I want the Packtalk talking to the phone as I want to be able to use the "Hey Cardo" and "Hey Siri" functions - both of which work. I only use the TFT for Nav related functions and to share ride data, so that isn't connected to my headset at all.

THe only pain in the arse is that I have to keep switching the bluetooth play device for music away from the Nav VI and back to the phone. I am sure there's a way to stop the NAV VI being a playback device but I haven't tracked it down yet.

What issues with connections do you have?

I haven't had my TFT updated yet so am on the older software.

Your setup is different than mine. My phone (iPhone 10s) is connected to the TFT. Not to the PackTalk Slim at all. I also have the Nav VI connected to the TFT (recognized by default), and to the iPhone. I also use the BMW Connected app which is also paired to the R1250 RS. I then have my PackTalk Slim connected to the TFT as phone 1 and the Nav VI as phone 2 gps.

So again, the TFT sees this: iPhone Xs in the connections setting. the Packtalk Slim as mobile 1 connection. The Nav VI by default is recognized (part of the cradle and hard wired connection).

The NAV VI sees this: The iPhone Xs and the Packtalk Slim. I turn off the mobile and phone connections in the settings for the Nav VI
