accessories » Handguards for the RS 12

I'm looking to get some handguards for my RS,I've been trawling the forum and there's not too much info on here about them. I've seen the Barkbusters fitted to Sam's RS(all nicely colour coded) The offering from Oxford that Dave posted,I'm intrigued by the XR ones that Alan has fitted to his.
Has anyone else got experience of handguards on their RS?
I'm looking for something that won't clout the mirror stalks on full lock and won't flap about at speed.

I fitted the handguards from the XR, they're not massive and have kept my hands warmer and more importantly drier.
They bolt with a spacer at the bar end but require a stay at the other end, as they are designed to fit on the mirror support.
I fabricated a simple bar which doesn't look too bad. They do not clash with anything on full lock.
If I recall they cost about £50.

Peter I'm after a set so I can keep my dandies warm and dry this winter,setting off early doors to do the southwest run last month the backs of my hands got a tad chilly.

I do understand practical realities. I'm ancient and perhaps a little intolerant as much as I hate admitting it :) A bit of an RS purist? I see some of the stuff that gets thrown at an RS, screens so tall that you look through them etc and I despair. But each to their own and if I had to do a Winter commute I'd probably be singing a different song....

Another consideration would be the aeroflares by aeroflow. Basically they are winglets that push air out away from the grips and attach near the factory winglets. It will not be a 100% block from rain but will keep a lot of the wind off your hands. I have them but have not had a chance to ride in the rain yet with them.
