Which of these are you guys putting on your RS's?

Following advice from the forum just fitted bark buster storm. Well made easy to fit-kept original bar end weights so as advised by forum got extended fixing setscrews when I bought them from R&G. I have 30 up/30 back bar risers and just had to push mirror stem slightly forward. Just fitted yesterday so not tried them yet.

Fairly happy with them, they fit well and just had to enlarge the holes in the alloy disks which go in the part that bolts to the bar end weights. I've fitted just the minimal black handguard part and not the transparent extension. With the bars in their standard position I had to tilt the mirror stems up a bit to avoid a clash on full lock, but now I have fitted my MV up and back risers there is no clash.

These do involve replacing the clutch and brake assembly clamps with the ones that come with the handguards as these provide the inboard fixing point. The only concern about this is whether these parts are as strong as the originals, especially as they are narrower - the originals are wider as they have extensions either side of the clamp which probably spread the load a little.

EDIT: I also had to fit some longer bar end bolts. I used silver ones with flatter heads than the original black bolts as the bolt heads are no longer recessed as they are with just the bar weights.

I fitted the single point fixing for threaded handle bars ref STM-007-02-BK-the second one shown.

STM-007-BK, as per the Barkbuster website, is what's fitted to my '16 RS. Oddly enough, Revzilla (where I purchased mine) now shows them as discontinued

Don't forget posters, mention if you have risers when you post about your handguards(incase of clearance issues). There's no shame in being in being an old fucker

hi Jag, I have just got my Barkbuster storm handguards today , what length are the setscrews you got.
also where did you get your risers from cheers Neil

So, In my enthusiasm I got bought both b/b storm guards ,longer bolts etc worked out to fit the proper kit for the RS. on with them, weathers got a break in it . lets try them out. opened the iron gate & tried to get bike up the passage way. I live in a terraced house. not like our colonial friends who go off into the sunset down the drive. my my ( not the true words) I had given myself approx 15mm each side to clear. needless to say I caught them every 2 feet. back to the drawing board. just spent a nice afternoon in the conservatory (too cold in the garage, designing some skids used washing machine bottle, double sided sticky tape, Yorkshire designer of the month
(we don't like to spend to much up north) . also a bit reflective

Sorry for the late reply Neigw but been out of circulation for a few days . The extra set screws are shown as M8x1.25x60 C/sk stainless on the invoice from R & G where I got them.

hi Jag, thanks for the reply, now fitted quite close to mirrors. did you fit risers to help move them back, if so which ones. ive seen wonderlich, Heli bars, also some Mv Verholen . as I haven't ever fitted risers before. any input is welcome thanks Neil

On my '16 RS, even with the Heli Risers, you still have to rotate the mirrors forward a bit to avoid contact. But well worth it in the cooler temps
