The boxer engine is great for touring and occasional bursts in the twisties. The lack of chain is a MAJOR plus. But I, too, find the I4 engine more exciting. Smoother, more erotic sound than the boxer, which sounds and feels "agricultural" as one rider put it.

Maybe I'll add a GSXR600 to the RS, for when I feel the need for some motorcycle erotica. Lol!

Finally managed to take her out on a proper ride around the twisties in the hills above Marbella, and what an engine, wow!

Feels silky smooth compared to the RS and the sound on the Akro is amazeballs, especially all the popping when you let off the gas. Quickshifter is insane also. Power delivery is fantastic and doesn´t appear to suffer from the dreaded vibes I heard so much about. After a 2-3 hour ride, I got home feeling fresh with no pain in my shoulders or bum.

Downside, it revs very high at just normal motorway speeds, which I am guessing might get annoying, so I guess I will just have to avoid doing that

Enjoy! Inline 4 engines are soooo smooth. As for high revs at "normal motorway speeds", doesn't a higher gear preclude that? Or are you talking in excess of 100 mph here? That's not "normal"...lol!

This year I've spent a little time on my 05 CBR600RR. 5 1/2 days on track and about 300 miles on the road. I have to say that I love it. I'm feeling more affection for it than I do for the RS after coming up to 8 years of ownership.

This is a little odd given how much of a fan I am of my RS. In part it's because of its directness, it's raw edge. The RS feels like a soggy barge in comparison to the Nitron suspended Honda. The way the Honda soaks up abuse is great too. The 4 cylinder sound is exhilarating as the revs rise (standard exhaust).

So I can appreciate love for the XR. If I wanted to experience that motor I'd rather do it on track with a S1000RR.

Having owned a succession of RR's since 2013 (4 of them), I can attest to the sexiness and thrill of the sportbike experience. I frequently lament having traded my '17 RR, which I owned until this year, but my wife likes to remind me of my frequent comments about having my private parts smashed against the gas tank and my envy of those riders who have a more upright riding position. At times I think I was a dunce to trade the RR for the RS, but then I get on the RS and head into the mountains and find I really enjoy being able to calmly view the scenery and enjoy the occasional twisty attack mode. I get it...at 76, there's a benefit to easing off a little, but it's hard to let go of that youthful irreverance that a sportbike offers!
