I'm contemplating a ride from Rotterdam to the south of France in the spring as an alternative to taking a plane - due to timing constraints it would need to be a fast 2-day blatt down the autoroutes, with the benefit being that be I'd be able to take a more leisurely and more pleasant route back home to the UK afterwards. I'm just at the stage of planning/costing this out.

tell Viamichelin what you are riding and your typical mpg and it will work out the cost for you, fuel and tolls

Bikes are Class 5 and there is always a display on the gate so you can check before you pay, or in my case, ride through as I have an electronic tag that covers France, Spain & Portugal. Be aware that as new motorways are built or toll plazas are refurbished, France is going the same way as Portugal and the UK, where tolls are assigned to your registration plate. Like the ULEZ in the UK, you will need to register an account or pay retrospectively. If you do plenty of miles in France, Italy, Portugal and Spain, using motorways then an electronic tag is the way to go. I can log onto the APRR/Fulli portal and flip the tag from bike to car as required. https://www.fulli.com/ - other brands available including one from Eurotunnel.
