There's a developing plan for a tour of northern Italy come May-June, main focus are Lago di Garda and Lago di Como as general areas to pivot around and explore over 6-7 days including travel.

Mostly aiming for alpine roads and nature rather than moving a bit south anywhere near big cities such as Milano or the usual culture-tourism hotspots.

If anyone has any suggestion in regards to roads to ride, hidden gems to visit, or places to sleep/eat all recommendations are welcome. (or things to actively avoid)

I am hoping this timing would ensure good weather and just squeeze in before the main July tourism kick-off both from internationals and the European migration towards the south (i.e. pre-school holiday months).

Year-round riding enthusiast i.e. seasonal motorcycle popsicle.

Lake Garda and the roads to the north are a favourite place. Draw a line from Malcesine to Limone and stay north of that and you won't go far wrong. If I go back, I would stay in Malcesine. I stayed in Limone and got the ferry over, then took the cable car up to Monte Baldo. Superb views.

Torbole is also nice. I prefer it to Riva del Garda as the vibe is more relaxed.

The Brenta Dolomites to the north of Riva are lovely. Lake Molveno, Madonna di Campiglio etc. Passo Daone was a challenge in a hired Renault Clio on a fly drive trip with family. https://goo.gl/maps/SLPMD9aHwi4BvpQM8

I went around the southern end of Lake Como to get to the St Moritz road. Never again. Hot, slow traffic. Once on the SS37 towards St Moritz the fun begins. The road all the way up to the lakes is lovely then gets better as you follow the River Inn all the way to the Austrian border. One of my favourite roads in the whole of Europe. Highly recommended, then from Landeck, go back into Italy via the Timmelsjoch Pass and visit the new motorcycle museum at the top.

Some time since I visited so can't recommend hotels. The one near Limone was part of a package deal and a bit crap and too far from the town.

I stayed here in summer 2019. Nice hotel, just on the southern edge of town. Breakfast on the lake. Secure hotel parking about 100m from the hotel building.

I'd suggest take a day off the saddle and use the ferries to travel around the lake.
