Worrying about an emp situation due to a nuclear blast from another country here in the US seems just a little over the top to me to begin with.

If I made a list of worries the world was coming to an end, we were under nuclear attack, one of the last things I'd worry about is the motors getting fried by an emp event.

The US had hypersonic missiles back in the 50s. It was called the X15 and even carried a person. Meanwhile, Russia can't even defeat the little neighbor they thought would be done in a few days. They've been trying to develop a 5th gen fighter for 30 years and have only produced ~10 of them. China now knows their main ally is useless.

Whilst I respect and admire your survival preparations I think your electrical theory may be a little flawed.
Voltage is induced in a coil or winding when passed through a magnetic field. This is the basis of electricity production by the forced interaction of magnets and armatures.
Just handling electronic components can destroy them if static is not removed, reverse polarity is also a killer.
I do not think removing the battery will save your vehicles but I may be wrong.
No chance for us in the UK. If you're not military, royalty or politicians there will be no food, clean water, power or fuel.
Best to go up in a puff of smoke rather than die a slow death.
Now do I book that trip to Germany in the summer or not.......?

So true.

Part of my 'field engineer' duties at BT was the occasional safety and services checks on underground 'nuclear' shelters, some of which reach the national press when they are put up for sale.

One particualr site I recall, rural area as most were, was in farmland and the farmer had a key to the compound locks - probably his family would have been first underground and 'locked from the inside' before anyone else arrived.
Another had emergency services for phone, and likely the electric supply buried underground for a few hundred yards where they were then connected to dual use power/phone local network 'telegraph poles' so the first attack woud probably break any supply services anyway.

I remember those from my Post Office telephone days.
Do you remember the speakers which beeped every so often if everything was okay, silence meant death was on its way.
I also went to 'Buffer' stores. Old aircraft hangers full of tinned goods and biscuits.
Enough for a few days. Ironically they weren't just in case of war but to cover food shortages in the case of national strikes at the docks or within the food production cycle.
All gone now...

@zer0netgain, in my. VFR days I added a battery/negative disconnect due to regulator rectifier and slow battery drain issues. My solution was to install a Blue Sea marine switch.

I ran appropriate gauge wire from the battery to the switch and reconfigured the load side accordingly. It was some work but wasn’t that bad. Measure twice.

I mounted the switch “upside down” under the seat. This allowed for the wiring to be pretty easy as the connections were between the wheel well plastic and seat. I drilled thru th wheel well so the switch faced the wheel. This also allowed me to turn the switch without having to remove anything. I never had any issues with spray, water, road grime etc. well, my hands might get dirt on them but the switch functioned flawlessly.

I don’t have any pix, unfortunately, in part because it’s not visible, so the pics I do have of the bike after don’t show it. Here is a picture of a switch like the one I used. I can’t swear it’s the same but its at least close. If you search “blue sea battery disconnect switch” it comes right up.

I’ve seen stuff like that, but there is so little space with which to work, and I already have stuff installed under the seat. It would be just as easy (or easier) to disconnect/reconnect the battery as needed.
