I've just got back from a Normandy tour (brilliant!) but on tour noticed for the first time on my 2017 that my throttle feels a bit "notchy" or "sticky". Nothing to do with the electronics, it's a physical feeling of slight jerkiness through the handgrip as you roll on or off, and if I had to guess I'd say something needed greasing? So I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed similar, and whether there's a way to get into the throttle to lube it. Does anyone here know?

Electronic or cable driven throttle? For electronic, you’d probably use an electrical cleaner and only lube if components are sticking. Depends if the problem is the throttle sensor not detecting movement or if the throttle is not moving smoothly.

I had that 'stuck/slow' throttle my R1200ST and I added a flat washer moving the bar end assembly to the right.
It may have been heated grip/rubber settling and widening as it gets bedded in.
Just that small amount of extra clearance when refitting the bar end restored a smooth throttle.
I assume cable or electronic that the heated grip/bar end assemblies are similar.

I could rule out rubbing at either end quickly. The clearance at the bike end was visible and last year I gave the Grip Puppy it's trim! Clearance at the weight end is visible.

I then looked at the throttle unit on fiche and saw it was a sealed unit, no way to take it apart, and since mine is heated as well as controlling the fuelling I didn't want to break into it. If it's that it means buying a new one anyway, but I thought let's eliminate simpler possibilities first.

Which left the hand grip itself I thought, maybe it's rubbing on the bar? So I took off the bar weight and tried a few drops of oil between the rotating grip and stationary bar, letting it soak in and working the throttle. Et voila! Throttle action now as smooth as a baby's bum.

Plain ol' 3-in-1. If I could have got the grip off I'd have greased it but I couldn't.

Had the same happen on my 2017 model. But only when it was very warm weather.
