Tyres, Brakes and Suspension » PR5 Front Replacement

I usually replace front and rear at the same time, but my front PR5 will be toast at 5K while the rear PR5 looks good for another 3K. Any smart comments or learned options on replacing with a different brand/model or keeping with PR5 set? I've liked the handling of PR5's, but the front tire mileage has been a disappointment

I'm not even going to post a comment about your tyre being a Road 5 and not a fuckin pr5.

I have a PR4 on the front, the original, with 7900 miles on it and I expect to get to 10,000 before it needs replacing. The back is a PR5 thanks to a nail. I can't detect any ill effects. From what I've read I'm interested in trying a pair of Metzeler Roadtec 01s. All reports are they match the bike nicely and give it a more sporty feel than PR4s and PR5s.

I have a similar experience with my Road 5's. I've decided to just change them both and keep them matched. Front is used up at around or just over 6000 miles and rear will go 8000+ miles. I don't need to get maximum mileage out of my tires but want it to be decent. I've got a set of Pilot Power 2CT's waiting to be put on my BCR but I may put them on the RS. They are good for about 6000 mi. on the R1100S.

Just replaced PR5s with Roadtec 01s. They feel every bit as good as the PR5s ,probably turn in marginally quicker. Wet weather rides are very confidence inspiring. Would I recommend them over the PR5s probably. The PR5s are an exceptional tyre and the Roadtec 01s are every bit as good. It will be interesting to see if longevity is any better. Like other members my front only lasts 6,000 miles ,so hopefully the Metzelers will last longer
£40 cash back is worth having as Metzeler are offering at the minute
