Perhaps this appeals to me because I spent a couple of years in secondary school as a gymnast (before I got too tall). Like the side horse these exercises appealed to me. Haven't dropped the bike - so far....

Here in the states, road "salt" is the last bastion of uncontrolled industrial waste disposal - especially in states like Missouri where it seems to replace snow plows. It's pretty corrosive and not something I want in contact with metal bits for more than a few hours - especially if wet. As you might have heard, road salt is one of the (many) reasons our bridges and steel reinforced concrete road infrastructure has deteriorated so quickly in the last 50 years. Of course a few states like Minnesota realize "salt" doesn't even prevent freezing once the temperature is low enough, so they throw some sand in to improve the traction and to make sure the center stand suffers the full corrosive effects of the brine - the sand becomes great fun in turns if one knows it's coming, but not so much fun for those who have to take off the winter and "rusty" skills take them down in a sandy, springtime turn. “A good man always knows his limitations.” |

It's not doing as many miles, just 12,000 since my last MOT in July 2010. The only problem has been a defective tyre. |

London traffics does not suit me, I don’t have the experience for heavy city traffic, but London weather is good compared to many parts of the UK. I was cycling today in Derbyshire (Tissington Trail for those who know). Blimey 4 layers were not enough , the wind was biting. Still well worth it for the scenery and fresh air, not to mention the nice like minded people preferring nature to Christmas shopping ! |

I'm getting my bike ready for a ride tomorrow. Gonna head for Shelborne Falls looking for good pancakes. Gould's is closed but hoping to find the store open for some maple syrup (I'm almost out!). Will likely breakfast at downtown Shelborne Falls. Forecase is for a high of 70F |

Went for my first ride of the season yesterday. Went to meet with my son at College. Brought him some home cooking from mon, he was happy. Had lunch with him and came back. Was a nice day almost 4 hrs round trip. Today, I rode in to work, but this morning it was pretty cold with a 29 deg F at 6:30am. It is now 68 outside and will be going for a quick spirited ride at lunch time.
