Well, in the end I insured with Hasting, The change from the RS to the new GS was just the transfer fee, but the biggest shock was that I have just bought a nearly new Merc A200D AMG Premium, fully loaded a £32,000 car, Change from a 8 year old A3, Refund of £14,

I'm with Hastings. I tried to get a decent quote out of the IAM broker who allegedly undercut any quote. They declined...... First time I've tried the IAM, full member for 39 years and as high qualified as you can get. Full NCD. Not really impressed.

IAM insurance is getting a bit of a mauling in other forums - seems they are being very picky. Perhaps an IAM certificate does not reduce the risk of making a claim, or the claims are very high as there is a disproportionate representation of very expensive R1200RT & K1600GTL Gin Palaces?

Every year I haggle with Carole Nash to have them match ( get close) the best deal I get on Money Supermarket plus the cost of breakdown and recovery. I do this really for the convenience of remaining with CNash and having the bundled breakdown so I don’t need to buy that separately.
Maybe this year it’s time to move on and take a less costly insurance with someone else such as Hastings. I’d be interested to hear who you all use for breakdown/ recovery ( assuming your BMW warranty has expired)? I seem to recall Wessie writing on this subject once before but I can’t locate that thread , maybe it was on the old forum.

I got my breakdown cover with my bank account, covers car and bike with now start and relay. Had to use it once and was very good (AA) , the only thing was they told me if I broke down again with the same fault I'd have to pay. They took me about 120 miles to my destination. Glad I got it sorted for the ride home 😎

At the end of another claim free year, Carole Nashe/ Aviva raised my premium from £280 to £340. - why not?
AnywY I went to Hastings Direct and took their Premiere cover (adds legal cover and clothing/ helmet cover) for £180, to that I add £50 for NCB breakdown & recovery - so all in £ £230 for better cover than I had with Carole Nash. The money I saved covers the insurance and breakdown on my classic bike that I’ve decided to put back on the road.

Charlie November seem to be hell bent on pricing themselves out of the market. At least four of my mates have had unreasonable quotes for renewal recently.

I have just renewed my multi bike policy with BeMoto (2108 R1200RS, 2012 F800ST & Aprilia Tuono with 1060 big bore) for £320 (But I am old and have a good few years no claims)
Price based on mileage as ^k miles for the 1200, 10K miles for the 800 and 6K miles for the Tuono

Their communication has been excellent so far.
