That�s a good development, 3 years is the minimum I�d keep any bike that I like so it feels better aligned with my idea of ownership than a 2 year warranty.

The no mileage limit is nice.
The US had that a long time ago but now the warranty is 3 years and 36,000 miles.

I imagine only a tiny percentage of bikes cover 12,000 miles a year

BMW's own extended warranty excludes certain parts over 30,000 miles so it will be interesting to see if this warranty has the same exclusion (can't see any T&C wording on the link above).

It's nice that the warranty also extends the European breakdown cover to 3 years. My Triumph only had 1 year of breakdown cover with the 2 year warranty.

I think this is a cover differentiator in the market place where PCP is becoming the norm. With BMW you will now have breakdown (Eurooean) and warranty over a complete three year period which is a popular term. Also, I read somewhere BMW are offering a three year service package , so a customer can price the whole 'experience' from day 1. This will attract people who want/need to budget the cost. If you think about it, this is the way the world is going. Apple, NetFlix etc etc are all subscription services. Clever. Generates repeat revenue. This is similar but cleverer because the cost of changing brands will also be expensive. The trade in value of your PCP machine to buy out the balloon and trade in on another marque will be crap, as that dealer will not want to retail said bike due to the electrical gimmickry. Hence they will offer auction value.
