What have you done to bike » Cylinder head protectors/guards

I dropped my bike whilst stationary on the drive today when my concentration was interrupted. Drat. Right side cylinder head has got some gravel rash as a consequence.

The bike is a 2016 Sport SE in Granite Grey Metallic Matte.
Two questions.
1) Does anybody know the paint colour of the cylinder head so I can touch up or repaint?
2) What cyclinder head protectors are forum members using and which do they recommend?

Hi Ray,
Sorry to hear that, I did “lay mine down” recently and was saved by the engine protectors, I went for BMW items just because I like OEM stuff but I know there are other good options and you are sure to receive suggestions. But the BMW ones do what they should and hopefully which ever you select will cover the scuffed cylinder head. Can’t help you with the paint colour I guess its the same as the panniers and I did buy a touch-up pen from a US company but I just cant find the reference at present. Again someone will have it.

I also have the OEM BMW ones, got them with the bike when new, and they saved me from "gravel rash" last year, now only a small mark on the plastic insert.
Others here will probably recommend the MachineArt X-Heads (https://www.nippynormans.com/engine-bars...nrt-lcrs-lcr-lc), they also look good and capable. No idea about the paint color, best ask your local dealer about that.

If you install X-Heads or the BMW valve cover protectors, it will hide the gavel rash and would probably be easier than painting the rash, which still wouldn't look very good.

MachineArt Moto. That'll cover the rash.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
My dealer has come up with the following paint codes for my bike (total colour scheme is known as Granite Grey Metallic Matte):
Cylinder heads: Asphalt Grey Metallic Matte, code M23
Frame: Agate Grey (*or Achat Grey), code M4B

I may go down the repaint route even if I fit protectors. If I did it myself it wouldn't look good, as you have suggested, so I would get it done professionally.

X-heads here too

I went with the Altrider cylinder head guards. I really like the look and they did a great job protection the engine when I got t boned.
