I solved my wind noise problem on the RS by installing a WRS windscreen, with an MRA X-creen on top. Definitely quieter. But no cooling airflow. I feel like a sailor becalmed at sea, mercilessly oppressed by heat.

So I remove the X-creen, put the WRS (13" screen) in the low mount holes and in the lower adjustable position. Lovely! Nice, cooling air. But wait! The noise is so bad that 10 miles is torture.

Quiet = heat. Cool = noise.

Are there no other options? A magic screen that offers quiet, yet doesn't slowly roast you into dehydration?

Seriously...what do you tall screen guys do to stay cool?

Earplugs always. Low screen for clear air flow without turbulence. Vented gear.

Same for me a 13 inch screen length set on low for stable air flow around helmet combined with good quality moulded ear plugs.
Light weight Dainese fully vented leather jacket and gloves combined with PJM riding jeans and short Daytona boots and no issues in heat of 30 deg plus in England would you believe.

Another cooling aid is the style of touring helmet used a Shoei J Cruise allowing great air flow around neck and lower face.
Took a trip to Mallory park for bike festival last summer during heat wave and no problems in temperature over 30 deg, nice thing about BM is the versatility offed by panniers as we we able to pack light weight shirts shirts shoes and silly hats to protect from sun while safely locking bike kit away as picture attached of us sitting on racing outfit will testify.

The screen causes the noisy turbulence.

So less screen means less noisy turbulence.

With the added bonus of ventilation.

Protection from cold and/or rain comes from what you choose to wear.

I’m a fan of quiet fresh air.

This recent pic was in 25 degrees. Almost unheard of in Scotland. At 7pm too.

As part of this ongoing discussion on many threads I changed my usual pre-riding set-up to see if it as bad as some consider.

Just using the normal ear plugs I found there is more noise than i usually get, 10 miles later I stopped and added my ear/neck cover.

I use a very thin neck snood, so thin I can partially see through the fibres as it is pulled over and covering my head, then use the helmet to pull it past my eyes but still covering my ears.

This way there is extra cover over the ears and the rest of the snood stops wind noise under the helmet.

Plenty of air around my neck and not covering nose/mouth area which is much quieter than earplugs alone.

I have the older bmw system 6 helemt and purchased a spare when the system 7 was released. (I didn't like a two stage removable chin area, not secure to lock through when left on the bike!)

There is a change in noise level when the chin and top vents are open for fresh air but not excessive.

I think it comes down to earplugs. Unfortunately, my ear canals are exceedingly narrow, and bend sharply. I use custom earplugs because it's impossible to insert foam plugs in my ear canals, no matter what I do. The bend in them is so extreme that foam plugs merely bend when trying to insert. I envy people with straight, large ear canals!

I guess I'm lucky because foam earplugs work well for me. However, you might want to try an audiologist.

I've ridden an RT a couple of times and as nice as the bike is, the wind protection was too much.
