My new '23 RS shows coolant reservoir level at just (1/4" maybe) above MIN with stone-cold engine. I still have 450-500 miles until the break in service (it's been almost constant rain, wind, snow since I brought it home). Do I top it up (I have some BMW coolant, mixed 50/50 with distilled water, left over from my now-traded RR), or leave it alone and let the dealer top it during the service? I know, I know...symptom of OCD...lol! |

I would use OEM coolant if a top-up was required, and not any old El Cheapo brand though, in order to maintain the coolant quality. I assume it's only necessary to change the coolant in the case of parts replacement/repair of the cooling system where it would have to be drained. The above also holds true for the clutch hydraulic fluid, which is mineral oil, and not ordinary old clutch/brake fluid. OCD personalities would probably disagree...
