When you say "unweight the suspension", would standing up while straddling the bike and thereby removing your weight from it, then shutting it off, do the trick? Will it hold in that position, or once you shut down would it sink? What do you mean by "as standard"? And what procedure do you, personally, use? [/quote] as standard = as out of the factory personally, I do not adjust the suspension when parking. I just take care where I park the bike, often parking at an angle so the sidestand foot is a little lower than the wheels if there is a slope as for adjusting the ride height, this is the suspension pre load setting. The engine has to be running for this adjustment to happen so do not turn off the bike until the change is made fully should you want to do this. The bike will sink/compress more on the softer setting reducing ride height. Obviously, the suspension will compress more if you are sat on the bike so the idea is to stand up and let the bike settle at it's natural sag point before deploying the side stand. If you are 200lb this might make a difference. If you are 140lb, then less so. perhaps you need to wait until you get the bike, ride it and find your own ways with the bike's idiosyncrasies rather than over-analyse what others perceive to be a problem
