I’ve been after a new lid for a while, current Shoei GT Air (second one) is 6 years old and I was adamant I was going to get a Neotec 2. However I visited Helmet City in Westbay on Saturday and after trying on a Neotec 2, which was very nice, I saw the C5, foolishly I asked to try one on…
It fitted really well, snug, not tight, the build quality was superb, sound insulation exceptional and just felt plush. Hell it’s even less expensive (didn’t say cheaper) than the Neotec 2, although the cost of the integrated Coms is ridiculous! But with Black Friday deals etc it’s not too crazy!
Has anyone else tried the C5? I know its a very individual choose due to head shape and perceived comfort. I understand the C4 was a dud, but the C5 seems like a quality bit of gear.

Anyone else have experience?

I've been in the C3 , and C3 Pro Americas helmets for last 6 years . Passed on the C4 for its issues , and waiting on a C5 to come into stock at my Katy Cycle gear.
Very satisfied in the C3 pro . I tried the HJC Rapha , and the Shoei Neo Tech II . Sold both after first week of use .

I have the original C4 and the updated C4 Pro. The latter is really good, but probably suffered sales wise due to the poor reputation of the C4. The story goes that the C4 was rushed into production before it had all the bugs sorted.
Can't say I'm dissatisfied with either, although the C4 Pro is definitely a premium quality helmet in my opinion. The C5 by all accounts is excellent.
Your own head shape and resulting fit and comfort are what really count.

I bought the C5 to replace a BMW system 7 that I found very noisy on the R/S, the C5 appears to be very well made and is a very good fit, not done a lot of miles with it, but it seems quieter than the System 7 was.
Not bought the comms yet as not found it on offer yet, but like the idea of the modular design.
Will update further when I have done a few more mikes with it, although that maybe next year when the weather improves.

Thanks for the replies. I’d like to try one on again before I decide but the Concrete Grey is calling to me and I have locked into a hell of deal. Damn! 😁

I always look at the Sharp testing data when looking at helmets, but more often than not recent releases haven't been tested yet. If that's the case the next thing I do is look at the manufacturers Sharp testing track record. I don't have a Schuberth shaped head but if I did I wouldn't buy an untested Schuberth because of their Sharp testing track record.

Andy thanks, Motolegends is where my ‘hell of a deal’ is from! They have been really efficient. Price match agreed, just need to pull the trigger.

The C5 does comply with the latest ECE22.06 standards

I’ve enjoyed the C4 for about 3 years and, this thread is the first time I’ve learned that there have been issues with it.

No problems with the visor or vents. No noise issues. Too old school to use any comms. The helmet is more comfortable than my previous Arais, by a considerable margin.
