New bike, 400 miles or so, just got it back from Preston after they’d swapped my foggies of my old one two the new one. After warm up had timed with me hitting the by pass I went for max altitude, however when revs hit 5k in every gear apart from 6, three white horizontal lights appeared flashing rapidly in a place I didn’t even know lights was there and this is my second bike with the posher screen. The lights are central and in the frame of the screen at the top (see pic, not in the screen). Any one any ideas? It’s very distracting. Don’t want to two weeks before Preston can book me in.

As an R1200RS owner I did wonder if it is this, from the owners manual, as viewable on BMW' own pages - easy to download. |

Thanks Dave, I’ll check it now. Flashes like a strobe. Where is eco mode and who wants it?

Also a little arrow pops up above the gear number to tell me when? Doesn’t it 😜

Dave that is just telling me about the up arrows above gear indicator when it’s in normal screen or one of the others. The 3 white lights are not on the screen but above it in the frame.

Thanks Lee, that’s great stuff. I checked the manual but couldn’t find it anywhere until you gave me the right search words. Strange though in my manual it starts on p140 and directs you to p88. Thanks again.

I popped a couple of hundred miles on the bike today and at no point did I wish the bike had suggested a gear change, or advise me to change up at the “Rev Limit”.

I remember playing on 4 wheels before auto gearboxes took over and enjoying finding out where the Rev limit was. Sometimes with a soft cut out, but sometimes with a severe cut out. Those were the days. No matter if you slip todays auto box into “manual” you cannot hit the Rev limit, because the box will always change up when it decides. Back on 2 wheels, who on earth needs to hit the limit on the road?
