If you choose a quiet gas station you risk poor fuel. A busy one too? Buggered if you do and buggered if you don't.

In some ways I miss reaching over and unclipping my R100RS float bowls and tipping the water into the roadside. That was courtesy of a tiny Scottish gas station back in the early 80's. Not many options at the time and it took weeks to clear.

I remember those days only too well !!

Having been an actual gas jockey (i.e., Station Attendant........or......Kid that Pumps the gas and Takes the money) in the late 70s, water contaminated fuel and fuel line freeze-up were common in my area during the winter. We, of course, always told our customers the station down the street had a water problem, but less so than the cheaper off-brand station in the neighboring "big" town. But, just to protect our customers, we had a special "dry gas" made with isopropyl alcohol instead of common "dry gas" made of ethanol. Sure, it cost twice as much as the common stuff, but our customers deserved that protection, and we had two test tubes that they could shake and see the difference. Did it matter, that us, the fine young minds of the Station Attendant Staff, routinely switched those test tubes on the pretty display board? Nope. The station owner would grab those tubes.......give them a shake......and confidently state there was an amazing difference in ...... something ...... for the test tube filled with the isopropyl Dry Gas in his right hand. He would get the same amazing result, no matter which test tube was in his right hand...

BTW - spilling nearly pure alcohol on bare skin at subzero temps (Fahrenheit not sissy Celsius degrees) with a healthy wind can be a real treat.

I was out yesterday. The bike is performing well. Very strong acceleration as per usual.
I did have 2 stalls, pulling away from a closed throttle. I was in an IAM group and it’s a little embarrassing as I’m the examiner. I put it down to myself initially but no, as before and my original post I do think the bike has a very slight, almost imperceptible stutter on opening the throttle.
I connected the GS911 when I got home and there’s a whole host of options for calibrating the TPA and suchlike. I did them all. I’ll report back.

I've been out on the bike now and I've taken care to carry out a lot of pulling away, opening the throttle from closed. The calibrations I carried out with the GS911 have worked. The engine is now crisper in these circumstances.

So it seems that it was the bike and not me. I assume that dealers do these things routinely when the bike is in for service. Servicing my bike myself as I have for several years has resulted in the calibration drifting out of spec.

So to say that this calibration isn't needed or is done automatically seems to be incorrect.

On my last service, I mentioned that I had an intermittent issue with stalling as I pulled off when bike was hot. particularly an issue when turning.
When I collected the bike, I asked if they addressed the issue, and was told they had redone the "adaptions".
Whatever that means, I have not yet had a repeat of the stall.

Good to hear the GS911 cleared the problem. I do these calibrations each time I service the bike, it seems to run smoother. Its also good for bleeding brakes and resetting the service alert.

Has anyone come up with additional uses for this tool with the RS?
