tour reports » Just a little Georgia Stint

Well, I have to go stay in GA for the next two months for two different trainings. My boss gave me the okay to take my work car but it can't be used for personal use (ie no trips to see friends or family) so I would have to grab a rental car for those weekends. Instead, I am opting to take Roxy from Cleveland, OH to Savannah and Brunswick, GA. I am going to break up my ride south in two days; day one stopping north of Charlotte, NC. The trip down will be slabbing it (except for a small part), as I cannot be late for training but on the way back I am going to try to take the Asheville route.

This will be the thread I update with pictures, history rides, and all the crap I can throw into it. I have never done a true up-to-date ride report so keep your expectations low, my friends.

Bike is packed. Gear is laid out. Trip is uploaded to GPS. Checked in already to the hotel.

Now to get enjoy my last night at home for a while.

Charlotte is beautiful. I think you'll like it. It doesn't sound like you'll have time but Asheville NC is another beautiful town. Enjoy your trip!

Yes, very familiar though a lot has changed since I lived in Charleston, SC.

I love Asheville area so much we are constantly looking at property there.

Having spent a week in nearby Jekyll Island, GA, I suggest bottled water during your stay. The public water just tastes bad...........

I spent three months in Brunswick and am familiar with the awful water. I will again in that area for about 7 weeks. Fully plan on getting my gallon jugs from publix.

Day one down. Did just shy of 500 miles, I think actual was about 472. Weather started at 32 degrees, clear and sunny, and ended at 72 which made for a very enjoyable end to the day. The hottest part was Charleston, WV with a high reading of 81.





The best part of the day was meeting a friend from another forum and his lovely wife for dinner. They were so kind, driving over from Winston-Salem just for dinner! It was great conversation and Im sure wont be the last! Truly love meeting people IRL.

Made it safely to Savannah, just a short 285 miles today. Weather was amazing and traffic was light!

The small towns along 321 in South Carolina remind me why I love exploring on two wheels.

Found some awesome sites but cant share until Wednesday when I get the correct card reader for my outdated camera, which I chose so I could keep all my pics from this trip on one device and also (and most importantly) not have to take my gloves off every time I wanted to snap a shot.

A warm (but possibly blustery) day to travel through NC, for sure. A symbolic wave as you passed through WS. I'm just 15 minutes East. Happy motoring!

"Antiques and More" Store- Loved the old gas station signs, though I wish I could have found an old gas station that still had its sign.



Cant remember the name of this town but sure I could find it.



Until this weekend when I visit Parris Island, home of the USMC Boot camp!
