Zitat von c10 im Beitrag #17 Funny you should mention that but I had the GS out last night and I really noticed how it is geared lower than the RS, after having it on the toll way which is very fast driving. Makes a big difference imo .... The RS is much preferable imo. But I found the very loud tires quiet down considerably after 65 mph and are quite nice after that. Between 55 and 65 it sounds like a buzzsaw, very loud .... lol They are Michelin anakee wilds, a radial tubeless knobby that you could take to track day. They are that good on the pavement. And vastly improve the dirt performance as well. They just don't last too long like any true knobby .... I have a dyno graph from Black Hawk (remus) and it shows some interesting stuff for the RS. The only difference between just a "slip on" with flapper intact, and the full TI exhaust is about 4 hp starting at 6600 rpm and on to 7600 rpm and after. Those two were neck and neck all the way until the full exhaust started to pull away at 6600 very gradually with just the 4hp total gain at 7600 rpm. I think they have removed the graph from the website and I wasn't able to post it. But it doesn't make one to ready to modify that much for just a tiny gain imo. Might be why they took it down .... But all that said, people will figure out how to get more out of them, at some point .... and you'll never know unless you try .... All this does go along with what I saw on 650ib's youtube channel, with the techs struggling to get the ponies back up to even stock in some cases ....

I only use the blipper in the higher gears, and then only sometimes, like when I already have the cruise on and notice still in 5th. Just the high gears like 4th, 5th, and into 6th. I still haven't used it to down shift at all ..... old habits dye hard ....

4 hp is only a small gain in the Turbo world or automotive. 4 hp overall gain on a 550 lb 12X hp is big. |

Zitat von c10 im Beitrag #21 a road bike is not going to get anywhere near the abuse of a race bike and many fewer shifts quick shift gear box failures are not something I am seeing reported on the UKGSer forum which has 30,000 members and has been going for 25 years. There are over 5 million posts in that time. do you have any data of failures on road bikes using quickshifters?

Zitat von c10 im Beitrag #21 4hp out of 125 on a good day ... I'll take the cats and a slip on any day, but keeping the bike close to stock will help a lot at trade off time too imo. This is important to me. It might not be to others. And if they ever start checking us, like say doing inspections, if your close to stock your going to be set up well .... I do fully encourage folks to try things, but not just assume that the mods improved anything, at all .... I'm sorry but I'm spoiled by the 70s, when we could get 20% or more with a K/N and a pipe of some sort ..... 4hp hardly is even more than the variance on the dynos probably is ....

Zitat von c10 im Beitrag #24 over 10 years in the boxer LC that has been around since 2014 I believe if it was a genuine problem for BMWs there would be lots of threads like we have seen about shaft drives, fuel controllers, ring antennae and corrosion how many of those failures you saw were on bikes fitted with QS as part of the manufacturer's design and how many were accessories added by the owner?

75% factory , 25% aftermarket. Now I remember why sharing info on the net is a waste of my time. I'm not your run of the mill owner / rider Wessie.

I'd rather be influenced by John Millbank, a UK motorcycle technical journalist of some renown. Spam goes here |
Zitat von c10 im Beitrag #29 Just keep posting all that tech stuff, many folks that don't comment see the content too. It seems one does have to keep a thick skin on these forums. And I like your posts a lot, even though I might not always agree, there is no personal attack from me. Just healthy discussion ...
