Progressive "International" motorcycle show photos

I attended the Northern California Progressive International motorcycle show at Sears Point Raceway today. Guess what? Not a BMW display in sight. Other than the ones in the parking lot, of course. Attached are a few of the photos that I took today showing some of the displays

I read that BMW and others have opted out of the show circuit. When COVID shut down a number of shows, they invested heavily in online announcements. Their view was that they reached a larger audience. “I would rather be ashes than dust!" ~ Jack London |

Zitat von Lee im Beitrag #6 I assume that those dates were picked for an outdoor event that would hopefully experience fair weather, rather during the winter when it might be cold, windy and snowing. Of course shows at those locations and dates might not be lucky and have to put up with hot, humid, windy, or rainy weather. But it sure beats scheduling the shows in December or January.

The UK one is in November, following earlier shows in Milan and Frankfurt. Like your Chicago show, these can get unpleasantly crowded especially at weekends. However, all of the other Japanese manufacturers well well represented, as were Royal Enfield, Harley and Energica and Zero electric motorcycles. Just about all of the brands at the show were offering test rides on their bikes. Except for Energica. Frankly, the U.S. "International" motorcycle shows have really been going downhill lately. I wouldn't be too surprised to see them finally throw in the towel in the not too distant future. The reason all of the shows are at outside venues is because of Covid-19 regulations that limit the number of people who can be in a building. Limiting motorcycle attendees would likely not go over well. So outside it is.

However, Progressive set up these venues last year, I believe, when the virus was still raging and no doubt they figured that arranging for outside exhibits and displays would be the prudent thing to do.

Here is a link to a Motorcycle.com review of the 2021 Northern California International Motorcycle Show. The event is described as being "intimate" and the attendance was said to be disappointing. The author talked about a few of the attendees and not about any new motorcycles.
