Sorry to do this to a fellow owner / rider / forum member, but I’m in Ullapool now, having just had one of my best days on a bike for years. I rode up today from Dumfries in perfect weather, on almost empty roads (apart from the Fort William!) and into sunshine for the last 100 miles. More to follow when I get home

Interesting report to read - rather you than me I think with that weather! I did more or less the same route as you last September (with the addition of a night on Orkney) but we were fortunate enough to have fantastic weather almost all the way. That's the trouble with the highlands - the most amazing place to ride but you really take your chances with the climate! KC100->CB100N->CB250RS--------->DL650AL2->R1200RS |

Built to suit my weight. Always riding solo. With a 10mm jack up at the rear (Maxton suggestion). So the bike does actually ride the undulations rather than pogo-ing up and down. Like all vehicles, BMW build to a compromise. 1 up. 2 up. Loaded. Not loaded. I didn’t want expensive ESA that would never be right for me. It’s like tyre pressures. How can 36/42 be best for all the people all the time? (no need for an answer).
