New tyres fitted and I found an issue

I had a pair of Metzeler Roadtec 01 SE's fitted to my loose wheels today. I'm a huge fan of the original 01's and the new version have dual compound rear with supposed improved performance wet and dry. They also have larger plain shoulders for better edge grip, handy perhaps if Cadwell Park calls next year. I've read online that the original 01's are being discontinued. |

Sometimes the bearing will come apart so I repeat the process on the now exposed outer race. You need access to an arc welder and soak the mating surfaces in penetrating oil. Alan |

I've had the standard rear fitted just as I did with my 3 previous sets of 01's. No issues and great tyres. Some riders do fit sports tyres to their RS with no reported issues. I'm a lightweight (in more than one sense of the word) and my pillion rides her own bike so I'm not concerned about using standard fitment tyres again. I think that labelling the 01 SE's as 'sports tyres' is just a reflection on how sport touring tyres have improved. |
