Oh I love that road so much.. Being originally from that part of the peak district, it's the road I learnt to drive on, along with the A6 between Bakewell and Buxton. I didn't learn to ride bikes until 10 years later, then a resident of London, so I'd never experienced it on two wheels.

The very first time I rode a bike [1] back up to the peaks, I couldn't wait to ride it... the big day arrived and I'm riding up the hill of Ashbourne high street towards the start of that road.. at the very top, effin fog! All the way to Buxton! Crawling along it at 20-25mph was not quite the glorious homecoming I'd anticipated. The A6 was clear at least, but Derbyshire plod had declared the entire road a 50mph limit since I'd last enjoyed it as an NSL... meh!

You�re so right about those 50 mph limits, very frustrating but honestly I rarely see it policed, so with a bit of care there is still fun to be had. I�m about 30 minutes south of Ashbourne so its very much my Sunday ride in normal times , soon may they return!!

Another vote from me - that's one of my 'go to' rides as well! I usually tag on Whaley Bridge though, ie beyond Buxton; that's another really nice stretch.

I ride year round here in Colorado and I have been riding whenever the weather permits. I have not stopped riding because of the coronavirus.

I've been doing day rides and doing the odd errand despite the rona. I just got back from one and I'm still really pleased I got the RS. I'm learning the handling and the shift points and just think it's a beautiful machine. It's also a rocketship in dynamic pro mode.

Very enjoyable. A fair number of sports bikes are still being caned around the Lakes if my ears aren't deceiving me.

My brother and I are planning a ride, hopefully Wales or the Peaks. I'll be on the RS, he'll be on my CB1000R. Guess I'll be carrying the luggage then - but my arse will probably hurt less :)

Got to get 600 miles on the RS first so I can have the running in service done!

Yep. They're a second generation shop, going back to 1963. Remember Moto Morini? They were the US distributor back in the 70's.

Very knowledgeable in sales and service with good prices.

What issue of the ON is the story in?

So far our bikes have not moved since last fall.
We had a trip planned to the Texas Hill Country the first two weeks of May but canceled that.
The next planned trip is Colorado mid July. Hope it's safe to travel then.

First ride will be East and North Yorkshire plenty of choice away from the mass of cars going to the coast,
Also my RS with a full set of luggage holds plenty of 'Essential Shopping' nearest supermarket is 8 miles away so add in a short loop off the direct road and Lo a 20 mile trip and just legal!

I do hear plenty of bikes on the by-pass estimate from revs and gear changes 100+mph. Will not join them as the boys in blue can hear as well as me.

seems in the UK we will be delaying plans a further 3 weeks as current restrictions just extended by the acting prime minister after a cabinet meeting

When I checked the DOT site this morning they were applying both liquid and solid material.
Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska has highway and truck cameras so you can check on road conditions.
