Rybrook Wolverhampton and Cotswold Motoradd - what are they like to buy a bike from?

As per the title what they are like to deal with please.

I rang Rybrook Wolverhampton today to see if they have the 1250RS on demo, but they've sold it and won't have a replacement until the new year so I'm going to ring Cotswold tomorrow to see if they have a demo I can have a go on.

I've previously bought both my GS' from Blade who have now closed so I'm looking around to see who I can do business with for my next bike. I've had the current GS serviced by Rybrook and they seem efficient enough but have had no experience with the sales team other than when I was looking to buy my 1st GS 4 years ago when they were not as competitive or eager as Blade were to do a deal.

They're not too far away from me and only another 15 minutes compared to Rybrook as I wouldn't have to ride into the centre of Wolverhampton so I'll give them a call

plus you have much better roads nearby to go for a spin on the demo bike - everything from motorway to single track roads can be done in a 45 minute loop

I had a chat with Steve on Monday on the off chance of getting a test ride, but the bike was already booked out so we arranged it for today. I woke up this morning feeling unwell so I've rung him and he's going to contact me when he's back in the new year so we can sort one out.

It's all rather sad....I've watched TMF's videos on the RS at least twice now

I'd even put your routes into my Nav5 too, never mind they'll come in handy when I get my ar8e in gear after Christmas. Wifey decided to turn into a coughing washing machine last night so I got little sleep and have man flu coming on and at my age it's important to not over do things

Well, I took the test ride at Cotswold Motoradd on Monday in mixed conditions with it being quite dull and damp especially riding out towards Cirencester. Thanks to Wessie for providing the route. For the ride itself first off I found the bike quite comfy and could easily reach the floor with both feet so very confidence inspiring at low speed. Leaving the dealers I found I had to apply pressure on the bottom bar to hold the line at slow speeds and prevent the bike tucking in-is this normal or was there something wrong with the bike/tyre pressures which showed 2.2 bar on the TFT. Obviously it's a very different riding position to the GS and I had some weight on my wrists as I expected but not uncomfortable. The engine is very smooth and pulled like a train. On the motorway and dual carriageway I found the wind noise quite loud even with ear plugs in though there wasn't any turbulence though in amongst the traffic I felt a little claustrophobic compared to when I'm on the GS. The Mirrors while good were not as good as on the GS, which are closer and showed a wider angle of view. It would easy to get up to speeds that would see you up in front of a magistrate-not that I did of course! on the single carriageway roads I was impressed just how good the ESA was, IMO the road and dynamic settings suited the RS well-better than the GS. Brakes were amazing, far better than my GS that has the Brembo's too. Overtakes were a doddle, so easy to pass with a subtle roll on and off of the throttle. Coming across queuing traffic it was far easier to control at low speeds than the GS is and I was able to ride a lot slower on the RS as a result only having to put a foot down once I'd actually come to a complete stop. Another thing I noticed was that the gear lever travel on the RS was much longer than the GS. I was back at the dealers in just under the hour I think, but didn't check exactly.

Back inside Steve Guest went and got me a coffee while I gathered my thoughts and at this stage my fingers began to tingle. On his return I told him how the ride went and he then appraised my GS, we discussed what extras I might want and he went off to see his boss to get some figures. At this stage my hands and fingers were still tingling slightly. On his return we discussed the deal and I said I'd phone him once I got home as I wanted to see what the GS was like after riding the RS. So I headed home, leaving the motorway after 1 junction and let the satnav get me home avoiding the motorway. Out of the 2 after weighing up the pros and cons of both with neither being ideal my personal preference turned out to be the GS- I just felt more at home on it which I guess was to be expected in some ways as I've now had 2 and although I enjoyed riding the RS and it is a very nice bike it wasn't enough to drag me away from the ADV tractor. Steve's now attempting to sell me a 1250GS...….

As a closing note I would say no matter what happens I was very impressed with Steve and Cotswold Motoradd and would have no hesitation in recommending them based on what's happened so far.
