RE: tyre to travel does not work anymore - 2

I had a read and a play with it today after the update released yesterday.

You can now select the route planning screen to use Googles maps, to do so got to Tools > Preferences > Map tab, and under the second item select from the drop down list "Google Road Map".

You then get a warning which I'd summaries as "It may not always work - if you have problem use original OpenStreetMap from the same drop down list".

You then need to save these preferences (click on the OK),

Close any open routes you have open and re-open them or start a new route and sure enough it looks like Google maps again - don't know about the accuracy etc. on a big route but a quick play on a short route (50 mile) and three way points and all seems good.

It's now working for me again, using Google Maps, after following the convoluted process of registering for the API. You have to set up payment details, but apparently this will only be required if you use the program in a commercial manner, with thousands of uses of Maps per month.

I'm getting my usual Waypoints time to ride, which is what I use to plan my routes, but interestingly, when I import the exact same route into My Route App, the estimated riding time is vastly different.

Before I update to the latest version, is anyone able to confirm that it still has the option to save as a CoPilot .trp file?

Today I received a mail from Tyre to Travel that services has stopped as of July 17 2019. Now they've included a 40% discount to switch to My Route App. Can't tell you what the 40% discount is for as the link didn't work.

I’ve got this too. If you upload the route to the Nav v it WILL recalculate and show a wiggly road as it ought to do, but it’s a crappy way to plan a route. I went through all the hassle of getting a API key for google earth but it didn’t help.
