And I usually don't say this about tires, but in going from the PR4s to the R5s there was a noticeable difference. Maybe my PR4s were just shot, but I've now put 4K on the R5s and I'm very happy. The R5s don't follow rain grooves like the PR4s used to, although that was a only a minor annoyance. The tread pattern is deep and the tip in is more confident (based on my randomized subjective-o-meter). I wrote up first impressions on the old site, but it boiled down to this- if you like the PR4s, you'll like the R5s. The only caution is to call them *R5s* and not *PR5s*, otherwise Bravo will educate you otherwise.... |

Based on Bravo's experiences and recommendations I have purchased a set of these to be fitted to the bike before our summer Germany trip. |

My first set of Road 5's went 7500 miles when the front was into the wear bars. The rear appeared to have at least couple of thousand miles left in it. I replaced both at that time, 2000 miles of the new set and they are doing fine. The original PR4's were toast at 6400 miles.

I've always gotten great mileage/performance out of the Michelin PR family tires. For my RS, I had the front OEM PR4 replaced at around 9700mi with the PR5, The rear OEM PR4 was replaced at ~2000 miles with another PR4 because of a nail -- Thankfully the BMWMOA membership covered it under their "PLATINUM ROADSIDE & TIRE HAZARD PROTECTION" coverage. The rear now has ~9500miles on it and can probably go at least another 1k - 2k miles or so before hitting the wear indicators. Have had no problems whatsoever with the PR5 in front and PR4 in the rear. |
