Navigation » Nav V stopped showing Speed

Has anyone experienced their Nav V stop giving speed read outs? I can still see engine temp, tyre pressures etc, but for speed I only get “- -“. I’m off to Brittany next weekend and had planned to set the units to Km’s so that I have an accurate speedo. Any advise appreciated, perhaps I need to reset the whole unit?

Not sure why it should stop showing your speed on the nav, perhaps try wiping over the gold contacts on the nav and cradle just in case it's dirty. When I went over to Luxembourg the other week the I left the nav in miles per hour and driving around it showed the speed limits for the roads I was driving on in miles per hour, so just used it that way, the speed you are actually doing when displayed on the nav turns red when you exceed the limit. Also having the nav display local speed limit in miles per hour makes it easier to use the bikes Speedo, kph number are quite small on the UK Speedo.

Hi Lee, yes it does also show — in the main navigator screen., i will clean the gold contacts as suggested but given that the engine temp etc is showing i doubt that’s the cause. Any other ideas are welcome / thanks

I take the unit does not display Seed even after it's been on several minutes?
I went out and checked mine and it takes awhile for __ to change to 0 when the bike is turned on.
Is the unit getting a satellite signal?

I had exactly the same thing no speed and just showing blank lines
I took the battery out and re-installed it and the speed re-appeared on the Nav

Thanks Bob, I’m away for the week but will try reinstall of the battery on Friday evening.👍

Well the problem sorted itself out and I don’t really know why, but I’m happy. On tour in Brittany and the speed and other data on the Nav bring real time peace of mind.

Did you get the music working?

Hi Willy , no I was too embarrassed to mention that again, really not sure what the issue is, I can see the tracks playing (time counter) but no sound in my intercom.

My Nav V randomly; turns off, resets, doesn’t give me the option to play music (that window disappears), window reappears & allows me to play music but gives no volume, option to make phone calls disappears etc, etc. Annoying, but usually comes good after a restart.
Haven’t lost speed reading, yet.

Sometimes the media player screen doesn't appear when starting the bike and nav etc, switching the intercom off and on again usually restores everything.
Boxerboy, no need to be embarrassed, it just seems a bit odd. The intercom must be paired as A2DP otherwise you wouldn't see the track playing. What intercom are you using? You aren't trying to communicate with the other headset are you?, that would mute the music while still allowing it to play.

I’m using Interphone FCM3 units ( rider to pillion) but have only tried to connect music whilst solo..... and really that’s my only interest regarding music as I won’t be listening when I have my wife riding with me.
