Briefly, after 3-4 hours in driving rain my (few months old) 2 in 1 gloves were distinctly damp in the "waterproof" section. After drying my hands in the tunnel I put on Pro Summer gloves for the next stage of the trip and stayed perfectly dry.

Dealer gave me a new pair without quibble but I have not had a chance to put them to the test as yet.

Not impressed though. Pro Summer and Atlantis "ordinary" goretex gloves have never given problems like this.

Must make a mental note, ' do not ride near Yoda ' your so unlucky 😱😱

I never take the time to tuck my glove gauntlet inside my riding jacket or rain jacket sleeve.
With wearing my gloves this way in the rain, my hands get wet even with waterproof gloves because the water runs down my sleeve into my gloves.
I turn the heated grips on if it's a cool rain to help keep my hands comfortable.

My solution is to wear the most comfortable gloves I own (which are not waterproof). They are easier to don, provide better feedback, and incorporate the level of armor I desire (I’m a musician). I treat these gloves with a light spritz of Scotchguard and work mink oil into the back (weather) side of them. This keeps out rain long enough for me to locate a spot to slip on some rain covers. The rain covers I use are Aerostich Triple Digit with the longer gauntlet. It is available in orange or black and incorporates reflective material and grip pads for your palms. There is even a squeegee on the left cover for wiping water off one’s visor. They take up very little space at all in my tailbag and really keep the water out. Great kit...

I have a pair of Rev'it gore-tex gloves that I bought on close out. Originally, they were over $250, and are my go-to winter and rain glove, and are not made anymore. The gore-tex (and it really is gore-tex, not hydra-tex or some GTX-like) really does work. Waterproof? Yes. Breathable.... yes, to the degree that I'm flowing lots of air over them, but they're definitely not a 4-season glove.

So I now know how Gore Tex works. Thank you andygriff!

I guess it may also explain why the first trickle of water is always felt at the wedding tackle. That part of me is warm and dry, protected by the seat and the tank and all that clothing.... or at least that is what it feels like until the water trickles down.

As a biker, therefore, you are implicitly faced with a choice. You can ride with cold but dry hands by turning the grips off. Or you can ride with warm but wet hands. Personally, I've always preferred the latter. After all, there's nothing unpleasant about a warm bath!

A trick I use is to wear thin inner gloves (silk, polyester or thin fleece are good) inside my Gore-tex gloves, which work as a wicking layer, so my hands stay dry and I can still keep the heated grips on.
